Electrical upgrade project
« on: November 07, 2017, 02:50:30 PM »
Had some time to work on upgrading the electrical components on the 750 last night. Started by removing the battery cage and the factory components. Then, performed a test fit of the new blade type fuse holder and solid state regulator rectifier. Next, I de-soldered the wiring harness from the old glass fuse block, and soldered it to the new blade fuse holder. I then used a Dremel to cut off the factory molex plug holders and ground the edges smooth. I also had to make a few cuts into the main plate of the cage. I smoothed those over with a grinding wheel as well.
I drilled holes to mount the new fuse block and then used a tap and die to thread the holes. Next, I checked the placement of the regulator rectifier, drilled the holes and tapped them as well. I used a high temp enamel paint to coat the entire piece for a nice, clean look.
I then mounted everything up, bolted it back in to the bike and  made all of my connections. I think it turned out pretty good for a quick upgrade project.

Nice!
I just ordered one of those fuse holders for my CJ360T 'cause I'm tired of trying to find the correct amp/length stock fuses. If I like it I may do my 750 as well.

Thanks! I ordered the fuse holder from Amazon. Think it was less than $10 shipped! Now I need to find some 77' 750 side panels to hide all of that work I just did!  LOL!  ;D

Looks good! I'll be doing something very similar this winter.
