I always come back to the Kinks.

Muswell Hillbillies is one of the great albums.  '20th Century Man'  always resonated with me.  Explores some of the same ideas as Apeman, but not as whimsical.  Ray Davies wasn't crazy about the modern world -

My 17 y/o son likes that a lot, I was always partial to the Lola album and earlier stuff, but I do like that album. It feels like a continuation of the feel of 'Dead End Street' - one of my faves lately, but it's an ever changing list - from several years before.

Really like his sound. Reminds me of late 80s/early90s country I grew up with.

 Some B.M.F.S.
We saw him in Cary a couple of months ago. Mind blowing, face melting, perma-grin music. The vibe of the crowd and the show is a mix between Grateful Dead and a bluegrass revival with some Stevie Ray Vaughn/Jimmie Page style riffs thrown in.
This is a solo set, but his entire band is as good as he is (the mandolin player...OMFG) and he shares the spotlight equally.
If he's anywhere near you, you owe it to yourself to go see him.

Here's an old clip of a local Texas band, the Arc Angels. The drummer and bass player were in the Stevie Ray Vaughn band back in the day.  They are touring again, just bought tix.

It's funny how a tune from a certain point in your life can take you right back there. Some I don't need to hear, others make me remember a fun time, like when my brother and I were going to Cordova to the drag races.

The playlist of personal anthems gained another banger

It's funny how a tune from a certain point in your life can take you right back there.

Sometimes, even a newly heard of song can do that.

These guys learned this song in Nigeria, it is a local pop tune. While performing it there, the original artist came on stage. At first they thought he was PO'ed but then he smiled and joined in with them. My kids band is opening for them at our local theater in November.
