Was an epic performance!   A documentary of if is streaming on Disney+, but I'm not subscribed and wont; it also is out at Imax, but I just prefer to watch a few of the songs on you tube!

I was the new kid on the block at Vidar in 1978, and when a Cars tune was played over the plant audio system, one of the other techs, Rex, noted how all their songs started with a distinct rhythm riff. I quipped "tappet noise", to which Rex replied "you might fit in here, Scott". ;D

As a younger man I lived in Massachusetts for about 12 years. A friend of mine worked at Central Auto Parts in Lowell.  For whatever reason, that's the store Ric Ocasek always used to come into to buy parts for his '55 Thunderbird. My buddy actually "got to know him" a bit due to those frequent visits.

I don't really care for the band, but I like this tune for some reason? Maybe it's the steel drums, and the lyric "SHE CAN'T HIT"??

^^^ I like that song too, Navarro was the guitarist. He then went on to play for the Red Hot Chili Peppers...

You guys have good taste. I'm sitting back over here stroking my beard and feeling smug, then I get the uneasy feeling that ya'all just might have been either contemporaries or led by a few years...

Good stuff.

Here's a tasty tune.  The video pretty good too.

In my home town in the early '70s, '55-57 Chevy's were quite common; in fact they were often turned into stock car dirt track racers. I never owned one myself, but I've driven one or two and ridden in many more.. 8)

Hot rod Lincoln was a different song; the only thing in common I could hear was the mention of San Pedro? The original version was supposedly a response to that song? The "Grapevine hill" mentioned in Hot rod Lincoln is also known as Tejon pass, and is on I-5 in southern CA, which is a main north-south artery between SoCal and Central CA. Back in the day, it was a narrow two lane winding road, which could lead to white knuckles at times. It was closed for a while yesterday due to snow..

How about old country and western? My dad used to play this one on his high fidelity stereo system. ;D

What about Cajon Pass?
Always like the Hot Rod Lincoln story and song.
Cajon Pass the Inland Slope Rebels, Radio control (RC) slope glider PSS (Power Slope Scale,) guys fly the high lift high wind slope near the Cajon Pass and they fly heavy ,power Slope being a powered plane looking pure glider and these things really fly well a d can fly very fast and very capable of all kinds of aerobatics and high speed maneuvers using nothing but the lift if the wind coming up the mountain to give exciting flying of a pure glider ,(no power at all,). You toss the plane out into the lift you sometimes hope is there some days...

Fun hobby and can be an expensive one. These days most PSS models of WWII or later warbirds and planes are going to be fiberglass and sometime kevlar and some carbon fiber tow and cloth composite fuselages with foam and bass and balsa wood winds that are fiberglassed and often carbon fiber cloth composite construction. Basswood leading edges and spars and wing root reinforced spars and center section. Sometime film covered but almost always a painted finish.

Yeah, for me anything country is not something I willingly ever listen to...and I grew up in the country and home to a lot of country artists from the region.
I do like bluegrass, but country...gag me with a spoon... ;)

NOOOO!
Lol! Neither do I, in the general sense. This guy's pretty legit though. It's newer, but could have easily been from the 70's.

Now you're talking! One of the more underrated guitarists of that era out there.

+1.  Actually saw him in concert about 7 years ago in a small venue, was very good.

This band, Point Blank, toured with Trower back in the day...
