I read that David Bowie's real name was Davey Jones.

Was born David Jones but didnt want to use the nave Davey Jones as another was already well known in the music business [The Monkees]

Trivia question:  The Bowie song "Putting out the Fire" was in the movie "Cat People".
Can you name the lead guitarist?

Happy Winter Solstice! Today was the shortest day of the year, and for those of us that are affected by the short days of winter, AKA S.A.D, marks the time when the days start getting longer, before the mad-long rush into the full heat of summer. ;D

Can you name the lead guitarist?

That would be Stevie Ray, he played lead on the album "Let's Dance", the first album that Bowie didn't play any instruments.  Not my favorite, I prefer early Bowie.....

That is correct, Stevie Ray played on 3 songs before he hit it big on his own. I prefer early Bowie too, but as you know he was always changing!

I actually heard "The Man who sold the World" yesterday, but it was a cover version...

LOL that's great.  I'm not so sure that I don't prefer Nirvana's version to the original!

Originals are typically better, but this is a good cover.  When I heard it, I was thinking isnt that a Bowie song?! I had to Google it to confirm. It's not played as much as other Bowie songs.

He looked pretty freaky in '72!

I saw Link Wray live at a club of about 250 person capacity (and it was packed!) back around 1995.  Very good show.

Spent most of that day streaming BBC Radio 2 and their new years eve programming.  Switching over to some easy listening now...

The Legendary Shackshakers - Wild Wild Lover - the guitar slide at 1:21 and the cold end. It ain't for evr'y body...but the whole frickin' album is Awesome. Check out 'CB Song' too, Geico actually used it for one of their commercials.

'Blood on the Bluegrass' on the same album is a retelling of the 1996 true-life murders of Naomi and Richard Wendorf by Roderrick Ferrell in Eustice, FL. It's a really good ballad.

Unknown Hinson "Venus Bound " is pretty good too - again, it ain't for everybody. You either 'get it' or you don't...but he's a damn good guitar player too.   (He's also a voice on the animated TV show 'The Squidbillies').

Sorry if I got carried away by the links - I spent 30 years in radio, I love music.
