Hello.
I've removed centrestands but this is my first time installing.
I have the c plate hooked to the peg at the stand pivot and the spring hooked onto the c plate; is there any simple trick to getting the spring hooked onto the lug on the stand's leg? One inch to go.

Take a piece of rope, tie it in a loop, hook it over the springhook and pull...

 I use the tool made for drum brake spring installation.

 Some guys say you can bend the spring over and insert coins between the loops, then bend the other way and repeat until it's long enough. Once on you remove the coins one at a time. I've also put the spring on before the stand and pry the stand into place. Neither is easy.

I'll try these methods.

Hook the spring and c washer up to the frame and stand and lay aside . Tap pipe in to first clamp till its thru about 1/4 inch. and mount one end of the stand. (Stand will be in crooked, but one end will be mounted at this point) Then, using the stand itself to stretch the spring, "lever" it up and into alignment with the opposite clamp and tap pipe the rest of the way in. Sounds cumbersome, but works and beats hell out of fighting that spring
