1995 F150 XLT 4x4 Super Cab

Calling Ford truck guys.  I'm looking at a 1995 F150 XLT 4x4 Super Cab with the 5.8L V8 (351 Windsor) this week.  Any known/common rust or mechanical issues to look out for?

If the truck is relatively clean, I plan to do a light restoration and make this my daily driver.  Don't mind putting a few bucks into it rather than buying a new car or truck.

Had the vacuum master melt down in an old ford while towing.  Probably a freak occurence.  Made the truck run like poop but was fairly cheap and easy to fix.

F150 online, gobs of info there and some pretty knowledgeable guys too. 95 is one of my favorite years for a F 150. Not too much of a fan of the 351 motor though.

Well I guess it's a good thing it's not the power stroke diesel. A friend bought a used F350 with the power stroke diesel and had nothing but problems with it and it recently blew a head gasket. He took it to the dealer only to find out it would cost him $7,000 to fix it at least that's what my friend told me. I guess the engine sets back into the firewall just enough that in order to pull the heads off the engine with it still in the frame required having to remove the entire cab off the frame. He said screw that, traded it in and bought a brand new F350 instead.

 I took my wife's car to a Ford dealer to drop off for a warranty repair this summer and in the workshop was a Ford truck body hanging in the air. I asked the manager what the heck they were doing to that and he said "fixing the engine"  ::) Not a job for a shade tree mechanic such as I.

Ford must have taken a design cue from BMW.

We have a 2007 328i that developed a very small weep from the valve cover gasket on the engine...right on to the exhaust manifold.  Smoke rolls up from the hood when at a stop light, and the cabin intake sucks it into passenger compartment. The car has been renamed "Stinky".    Valve cover gaskets are cheap, right?  The bill to fix the oil leak $1300.
The engine bay cowl in front of windshield has to be dismantled to remove the vavle cover because of engine set back.  That's additional to the engine work.

We had the work done, anyway, a year ago. $$$  Now it is leaking again.
I'm not impressed with BMW's "superior" engineering.
Looking more and more as the ultimate fleecing machine.

Rear cab corners tend to rust. If it has chrome trim around the wheel wells look for rust there too. Bottom of the doors.
