The man know as Gomer Pyle through out the world died yesterday. He was 87. Loved watching him on the Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle USMC. Here is one of my favorite episodes.

Lots of good shows with him, the one you linked was a favorite... Missed him singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" at the Indianapolis 500 the last couple of years. RIP Gomer.

I thought his best song was "The Unreachable Star" on the Gomer Pyle episode when him and Sgt Carter had to go to Washington DC to sing it.

They played his cover of Stevie Wonder's "You are the sunshine of my Life" on the local radio show this morning... interesting.

Trying to think if I ever saw him act in any different roles other then those two. Think he may have had a severe case of type casting. Gomer Pyle USMC was a funny show and Sargent Carter was a real stitch.  I was surprised when he came out of the closet and married his 'friend'.

I remember him in some Burt Reynolds movies, Stroker Ace, Cannonball Run... I saw him as a guest on TV shows now & then.

In a story yesterday it said that he had a hard time watching the opening to "Gomer Pyle, USMC" as several of the real Marines that were marching with him had perished in Viet Nam.
