My first CB550.
« on: December 02, 2017, 04:09:35 PM »
I have had and still have several CB750. But this is my first CB550. For $200 with a title I could not pass it up. I bought it sight unseen but the bike was in a drop accident. Not sure if Forks are bent. And it runs but not charging the battery.
I love to make my bikes worthless due to high mileage!

Drop it off a loading dock?  A lot of damage and odd front fender damage to be just a drop.  What are you calling a dropped bike?
Looks to me like a car dropped it running over the front tire and fender.

A car sideswiped him going over the Dames Point Bridge. Speed limit is 65 but I doubt he was going that fast. Even if I have to replace the entire front end I figure it's worth $200 for a running titled bike.

Not sure where you live, but my friend Pat has a lot of CB550 parts... just saw that tank upstairs in the forks and gas tank area, and I am sure that he has the forks, and the fender also, in the from fender area. He runs a cycle salvage here in Toledo. I just fixed up Ayrity with a rear fender for his 1976 CB550K, looked really nice! If you want, I can look for you when I stop in next Thursday. Pat is 71 yrs. old, and him and his wife Phyllis are only open Thursday through Saturday, 12pm to 5pm.
He has parted out 100's of CB's from 100-1000cc's, over about 30 yrs. He has some pretty rare stuff, also. I did some eBay ads for him a couple years ago for CB450 and CB550K tanks that were brand new, never had gas in them. Had sat on a shelf for 30 years lol.

Thank you. I'm sure it will need some things. I have not even seen the bike yet. I pick it up this afternoon.
