Any clue on where to find a rear fender for cb550?
« on: November 30, 2017, 11:53:25 PM »
Mine is toast and I am doing a complete body rebuild. I would LOVE to use a new/reproduction one but I can only find ones for the 350 at 4into1. Ebay has used, but most look almost as bad as mine... Is there someplace I'm overlooking? A plastic solution? Modify a 350 or 750 fender? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Hi Ayrity,
Where do you live? I have a friend here in Toledo, Ohio who has a cycle salvage, and he has parted out 1,000's of bikes in the last 30 years. I would say that he has your fender. PM me if you would like his telephone #. Or, tell me your make, model and year and I will look for one for you when I visit him today!

If you want to do painted rather than chrome, Carpy's has a nice looking bobbed fender for $99 (plus paint)

(a) check the "for sale" section. Lots of café builders lose the rear fender so they turn up pretty frequently and (b) place an ad in the "wanted" thread.

Check the motorcycle parts section of craigslist too. I search "Honda" because so sellers are selling parts from multiple bikes and it doesn't always say Honda in the title.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding one.

I saw that, but it is made for a 750, even though he said some people have modified it to fit a 550, I am not really a metal fabricator or anything, so I want to try to stay away from anything I have to mess with too much fitment wise.

Thanks

I have a 750 fender on my 550F - it is identical to the 550 one except it has a shorter wiring tunnel and a wiring hole at the front which the 550 doesn't have as it has the wiring hole in the rear of the plastic section instead. So the only mod I had to do was to stick a plug in the hole in my plastic fender part and route the wires under the rear cross member.and through the 750 wiring hole.

I had a mold made around 1979,  for my '77' F1.Not sure where it is now though.?
I know I had a few fibreglass ones but hadn't even thought about it until I saw post.
Using 'woven roving' for boatbuilding it was stronger tan the original, probably needed to be with the junk I loaded on it  ;D

Just to let everyone know, he did get  a rear fender from Cycleman here in Toledo, and has it mounted. I am sure he appreciates all the offers.
BTW, Pat at Cycleman has ALOT of CB stuff, let alone Yamaha Suzuki and Kawasaki, as he has been parting them out for over 25 years. I just saw a CB77 305 motor in the back room just the other day... if anyone would like his shop's phone #, PM me. He has fenders, side covers, forks, gas tanks, exhausts, etc.
