Topic: New aluminum rear sprocket...

  Well my aluminum rear sprocket came today as well as an offset front . Unfortunately I was seeing if I could run the front  "backwards" (toward the motor) but,alas, not enough room. Anyhow the rear sprocket is almost 2 lbs lighter and as I dont put that many miles on the bike should hold up fine. Bob

FWIW I don't race. Over the last 47 years I've tried many sprockets for my CB750 and my observation is that the aluminum ones don't last too long. Now I get steel from JTsprockets.

  Yeah Ive assumed it will last significantly shorter than steel. That said I don't put that many miles on a year so I'll give it a go. Bob

Curious what that 'luminum puppy cost?....seems like the front always wears twice as fast as the rear so if it wasn't too expensive you are just saving the waste of a still good rear... as you should replace chain and sprockets as a set anyway

 It is definitely pricey relative to steel at $78. I wanted something different and lighter. I took off 8lbs with my shortened fender, new taillight/turnsignals , deleted grab rail and this sprocket. More than 30lbs in all while getting the look I want. win -win IMO.

Many sprockets are made from 7075 aluminum, a grade as strong as mild steel. Places like rebel gears sell them for a reasonable price.

I have ordered sprockets from Rebel Gears, they are great people! And friends with a good friend here in Toledo, who runs PR Racing, let me know about them.

 I had one made of nylon, the PO said it was the best part on the bike. Didn't wear and didn't eat the chain.
