Megacycle cams - one more question!
« on: January 01, 2007, 05:24:44 PM »
Hey all,
I need to get in contact with Megacycle cams to get some current prices, shipping info and info on ordering.
Looked at their website but couldn´t find an e-mail adress, only phone number and snailmail adress....
I´m hesitant to call as I don´t want any misunderstandings due to a language barrier.

Does anyone know if they have an e-mail adress anyway?

Cheers
Daniel

I think I wrote to them when I ordered the cam and pistons for Chrises Bike.

I think they do have an email address but seem to remember they only answer emails once a week Dan.

Ok, thanks!

Any particular reason to why I should get a WEBcam instead?

I prefer Megacycle over Web's in the CB. I do run Web's in my FJ (and Yosh in my Busa).

I'm curious...what were you looking for. Personally I've had some BS experiences with Web. One killed the top end of a 6000Fi. Was it money?

Sam.

Was thinking about the 125-05.
Seems like a good bet on my setup:

 - stock bore (well, plus 0.5 mm, 2nd o.d.)
 - ported head
 - stock carbs jetted to suit
 - K&N filters
 - open exhaust

Seems as the Megacycle 125-05 is slightly "sharper" then the corresponding WebCam.
Any thoughts?

I just want to make hasslefree deal where i get the correct stuff on time...

Should be nice Dan, make sure you have your head ported, it's the bigest release of power.

I got the 836 piston kit and cam from them, no messing about and came with a free T shirt ;D

Hi,
only one t-shirt?
I visited Webcam in Riverside, CA in person on September to pick up my "63a" camshaft for using with the 836ccm kit.
Received a T-Shirt, a long sleeve, caps and a lot of stickers. (Is the cam not as good as a Megacycle? Or why the stuff
me with a lot of goodies?  ::)  )
The guys are super friendly and I'm sure the camshaft will work as expected.
After all, if you want to go with a Megacycle camshaft, did you contact the following site for getting a Megacycle Camshaft?

http://dynoman.net/bikepages/sohc/cams_mega.html

I think, there is no need to contact Megacycle directly, or?

Thanks for the tip!
Since I´m going to have to deal with a company on the other side of the big pond, I just want to make a clean, quick and hasslefree purchase.
To be able to e-mail a company certainly adds to the probability of getting my business  ;)
So, has anyone had any experience with Dynoman?

Cheers
Daniel

I'd definitely get it from Dynoman. It will be cheaper than ordering from Megacycle direct and Buzz is a great guy to deal with.

Megacycle is 20 miles from my house, Dynoman is 2000 miles. If Dynoman has it in stock it gets to me a full week faster. Megacycle would not let me pick up my cam in person :P
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Thanks a lot Scondon, it´s settled then  8)
Seems like there are a few other good bits n`pieces on their site...
I´ll drop them an e-mail.

Once again this site has come through with some great information!

Ok, seems like a really good guy to do business with as he answewrd my email within a few hours  8)

However he recommended that I´d go for the cheaper Webcam 41...

This is what he wrote:

Daniel, we will be happy to sell you what ever cam you would like, but we
have to tell you that we sell the Web 41 cam 10 to 1 over the Megacycle. It
is a drop in as well, and has more lift for $65 less. We always recommend
that you install the Kibblewhite springs with any cam, even a drop in. Valve
control is greatly enhanced with good springs.
The Web cam with springs is only $10 more than the Megacycle cam without
springs.
The shipping to Sweden with insurance is $44 for USPS air.
Just tell us what works for you and we will be happy to send you a Paypal
invoice.
Thanks for looking and Happy New Year!

Best Regards,
Buzz

Now I need your input again, what should I go for in my rebuilt engine:

- 2nd o.d. bore, 750 cc
- ported head
- stock carbs, K&N pods
- open 4-4 exhaust

Cheers
Dan

DME,

Buzz at Dynoman is a really good guy.  Over the past tfew months, I have bought over $3000 of parts from him for my high HP engine build.  I bought the Megacycle 125-75 cam from him but he recommended the Webcam 43b because it is easier on the engine.  He really likes the performance from the Webcams.  Take his advice as a second opinion, but if you want the Megacycle, get it, you won't be sorry.

I think the 41 with springs would work very well in your engine. Get a slotted cam sprocket too. Always check piston to valve clearance on the exhaust side just to make sure ESPECIALLY if you have had any milling to the head or deck.

Still on points.... rebuilt of course, but an electronic ignition is on my wishing list. Don´t have the money for it now, though....

No milling have been done, but I will look at the clearences anyway.
