fuel line routing for CB 350F
« on: December 02, 2017, 10:42:45 AM »
Hello.  Does anyone have a diagram that shows the fuel line routing for CB 350F?  I went to fill my recently found 350f.  However, when putting fuel in the tank it leaked out from somewhere by the carbs (can't see where...) when I turned the petcock on.  The service manual I have doesn't show anything about fuel lines

-thanks in advance from the new kid on the block

Ok so I found the spot where the tank line goes to.  However, the small pipe it attaches to can be easily moved back and forth.  Starting to look like a real pain in the arse coming

The 2 fuel overflow lines were dry so I am baffled as to where this is leaking.  Of course the seller didn't mention the gas leak when he sold to me...

Im sure someone will be along who actually knows. That said on my CB750 the fuel lines go to tees in between carbs 1-2 and 3-4. They pivot AND can leak if the orings are bad. Bob

Damn your seeing it leak and can't see what it's coming out of?
If you could describe where it's leaking from people can help with diags.

it is leaking from somewhere near the top center of the carb bank.  When I turn the petcock it leaks like I pulled the feed line off the petcock and let it drain.  But, I can see the feed line going into the junction and the two others coming out.  They are all firmly in place.  its not coming from the float bowl tubes or the overflow lines.  I am not able to identify the leak source; its baffling

Thoughts?

I looked up your carbs in the manual. It has the same style fuel tee I described as my 750. If you can -look at the part of the tee( the fuel line connects to )where is goes into the carbs. If it appears to be coming from around where the fuel line connects the orings may be leaking-it is not uncommon . I could see mine with a flashlight looking from underneath. Bob

Your going to need a small mirror... you need some way to get in and see it happening.

I've seen several carb sets where the fuel tee leaks. The O-rings are, I guess, either just old or don't like ethanol. They fail, anyway. The tee can crack as well. Try to get viton replacement O-rings if you decide to replace them, there are four on the tee and on each of the two couplers. And yes, it is a pain. Two carbs have to come off the rack to get to the center tee, three if you want to replace all the coupler O-rings as well.

With the wife's eyes and help we found the leak.  It was a large pinhole in the feed line that only leaked if the line was bent in that area or rubbing against something.

So now she;s running!! next issue is the clutch I think.  at idle there is a lot of rattling coming from inside the cover. Going to open er up tomorrow.

-cheers

Hey what is the maximum size for a file attachment?

Nice! Way better than the tee orings leaking!

They rattle pretty badly from the clutch area if the carb sync is out of whack, the uneven power pulses shake the primary gears and clutch plates about. Or something worse is wrong...?
Be careful with the clutch cover, there's a thin section gasket. Might be salvageable after removing the cover but if it's been on there for 40 years ... not likely. Oil level is well below the cover but some will probably be trapped and drip out.
Cam chain rattle from a loose adjustment can be deceptive and seem to come from the bottom, top, front, or back of the engine.
