A few updates;
Installed the oil filter today, and 10w40 castrol oil, and primed the oil pump.
What has worked for me in the past and today again .. i open the gallery plug above the points cover, and almost thread a 1/2” hose in the gallery, then with a funnel attached to the house and zip tied to the frame i pour as much oil as it takes ( usually a third quart ) till it holds a visual level in the funnel.
Then fill the oil tank with 2 - 1/3 quart of oil.
You can chose to use the kick starter or the electric starter at this point and turn the engine over, till the pump burps. When no more bubbles in the funnel, turn over some over and you can see the level rising in the funnel.
Empty out the funnel, gallery plug back on, and turn over some more till you see oil in the top end.

OR you can just prime the pump before install

Secondly, ordered NGK splice kit for spark plug wires, and some 7mm spark plug wire.
I have a few sets of coils kicking around, and plan on using those, they all test fine for resistance.

Connected some wiring, but haven’t put in a battery yet. Need a fuse box, i am a sucker for the original look even when it isn’t much.

Made the wiring for the tail light out of some left over wiring looms .. i guess junk comes in handy at times

I have found a couple ground cables while sorting through my pile of parts .. no sheathing though ?

Was there no sheathing on the early bikes ground cables ? They are just braided cables ?? Anyone ?

Got the engine fired up, no issues there.
Took it around the block, everything great.
I came back, synced the carbs, just off a tiny bit, and went out for a ride.
After about 20 mins, i am getting oil thrown out of the oil tank breather .. what gives ?
I have done a few of these motors and never had an issue like this before.

Now, the bike was tipped over today and laid on its side to change a washer on the fork’ and i didn’t want oil coming out .. could this may have caused it in any way ?

Since everything on this bike has been collected separately so there is no history of anything.
One thing though, i cannot feel any venting out of the valve cover with the motor running, absolutely nothing, bone dry.
I would appreciate some info before i conduct any road testing.

Bike is running great otherwise, and engine needs to be broken in.
New piston rings, new valve seats, cyclex oil pump  and undercut tranny.

Well, i am hoping its that.
Runs fantastic, i put in a catch can when I was bringing it home today from my brothers place .. (had left it there overnight because of rain)
There was a little bit of oil again when i got home may be around 15 kms away .. all highway riding.
I removed the catch can, put on an extender on the drain hose and routed it to the side so that i can keep an eye on it while riding, rode around a bit, may be about 20 mins, some highway, some high rev riding, and no oil yet.
There is vapour, but nothing else.
I did blow in all the oil tank passages to see if they were clear, and they were.
I guess i will have to wait and see.

Got my yamiya ducktail seat today.
Put that in with the k1 style latch.
Looks fantastic.
However, there hinges dont seem to have a stop in them, so the seat wants to actually hit the fram and stop when open.
I will put in one of my hinges to remedy that.
Dont want the cover to have any unneeded wear.

Yet to do the gauges, i am doing potentially doing a k0 conversion for gauges.
Have to find a good caliper.
I have two but are toast, one has the flare fitting rusted and damaged, and the other has been tapped by PO with npt threads, and the flare seat completely missing.

Went for a little ride today, really enjoyed the ride.
Got a little oil vapour again, but i am hanging a longer hose off to the side to drain it, my money is in the oil tank air oil separator to be culprit.

I am not worrying about it right now, and might put in a catch can for riding around for now. I can hide it in the frame no problem, while i find a different tank.

Anyone has the picture of the insides of the oil tank ? And the separator ? Is it a foam type, or a mesh type ?

Thanks
