Was 42 in WI yesterday so I did get the Wing out. 7:30 this morning it is already 42 and supposed to get into the 50's today. Pretty good for WI weather. Snow is almost gone here in central WI. Not to say we may get more as we still have March to get through and sometimes get measurable snow in April. But it sure felt good to get the Wing out. Salt on roads was minimal as we had a lot of rain the last couple weeks.

Wow, it was so cold here last night I thought about sleeping inside! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Here in N.Y. the weather has been high 40's  and sunny for the past few days . I have been needing a ride  badly and thought it's  either now or wait till May. On the way to pick up the 750, I stopped for coffee. There was this old guy , like 60 ( yeah, like me),with a 2001 Wing sitting in the parking lot so I asked him "How's the roads?" . He looked at me sadly and said "Too much gravel from the sanders, going back home", and took off. I chickened out.
Today we have 3 feet of snow. Dam, I wish I took that ride .
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.

Today I woke up to falling snow again..... couldn't stand it anymore...it melted off the road by 1 o'clock.
I've been wanting to ride all winter but always chickened out.  Today was the day I just couldn't take it anymore. Rode the 750 home to my house from winter storage. It was a chilly ride for sure, not as pleasurable as it could have been if it was over 35 degrees but, when you need to ride, you need to ride.
This was a 2001 750 Aero that I picked up last fall, and my maiden voyage on it. It ran like a clock, very comfortable seat, quiet ...strange sounding to me without the other two cylinders that I'm used to hearing when I ride. But a very nice ride all the same. I think I like this machine.
I was thinking that this little ride might suppress the urge to ride until the roads are clean and safe. Silly me, I just want to go back and get another one out.

Springtime in Idaho

Jaysus. Sorry man. I know this will piss some ppl off, but I almost envy having an off-season, only to have the time to work on what needs to be done. My bike is my main transportation, so I do what I need to do to keep it going. I can see the value in having a few months un-rideable to get sh*t done that needs doing - make it better instead of just keeping them alive.

I've actually been riding back and forth to work since the end of January and have taken a few short rides.  What stops me more than anything the last few winters is the highway department's new love affair with salt and mag chloride.  I don't care to subject my bikes to that and hate running my cars in it.  It is cheaper for them and doesn't require the cleanup sand does, so we get to enjoy vehicle rust here in Idaho along with many other parts of the country.  The snow this morning wasn't really forecast and we ended up with about 5 inches here at the house.  It is nearly all melted now.  Supposed to be in the 60's by the end of the week.

Well as you guys are dreaming of long summer rides, the weather here is starting to cool down. It was almost cold outside today, and after the weekend rain (first rain in a couple of months) I was wondering if winter was coming early, but it'll be back in the 90's by midweek, and importantly, nice and warm on the 4 day Easter long weekend, so with luck I should get out on several of my bikes.

That's good, because my K0 engine build project is on hold until my cases come back from the hydro-blaster, and the crank and gear selector drum arrive from the US. Hmmnn, I better put in my Yamiya order before I forget! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

There is just a tiny bit of snow on the ground, out in the shade, not enough for a couple snowballs. I changed the oil in my CB on Saturday, removed the battery tender, and it fired right up after 5 months layup. I took a couple spins around the block. My neighbor backed out straight in front of me in his new F150, guess I didn't show up in his backup camera, but I stopped well short for my first avoided close call of the season. I'm taking the gas out of the snowblower. So, I gotta be done posting in the winter thread, do we have a waiting for 60f thread?
