wire harness around steering head
« on: December 21, 2017, 05:26:26 PM »
so i am putting together a bike i bought in parts and the harness where it goes around the neck under the gauges is colliding with the front stoplight switch and broke the wire terminals
i must have it wrong, does anyone have a picture of their bike for reference?
does the harness go under the tree? it doesn't seem long enough
i checked my shop manuals and can't find a good picture

Thanks   Steve

From the shop manual.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

I would get rid of the zip tie around the harness and throttle cable and have the throttle cable come down under the harness so the cables have the most gradual bend you can get.  The harness looks to be fairly tightly bound with tape.  It should be loosely bound in that area so wires in the harness can flex easily.  Original harness has the wires running through a lose plastic sleeve from the steering neck to the headlight bucket.  Your harness looks like it is being forced downward (perhaps due to the tight wrapping) into the break switch area.

Glad I could help. The link in my sig goes to a site where you can get a copy of the Honda shop manual that has that diagram.
You can also get the Parts List there too.
