Are those OEM or aftermarket?  Sure don't look OEM to me.

Seriously?

I think they look pretty sweet, much better than many aftermarket rims.

I think they are just the same reverse comstars that are on the later CB750F's

No not reverse, reverse has a lip turned out around the outside edge of all the openings and center was usually colored.

I think tubeless starts with 79 comstars which opens up some tire choices if you do go looking for a set. ;)

So those are stock Comstar rims?

I guess I'm used to seeing the rims on my 750 Limited, and frankly I don't like the look.  Turning them inward rather than outward makes them look better I my opinion.

Yes, they are. Early CB750 DOHC had the same. These had the little black stub on the joint between spoke and rim. Later CBX and GL rims did not. After 1979, some versions were "reversed" (spokes turned outside-in) and painted black with silver lips.

I think they should have kept that rim style - I think it looks pretty cool.

Not sure why they're only worth 25 bucks a pair though.

Generally  it's supply and demand..
Lots of them around, but not a lot of demand..
Great bang for the  buck , mags are often cheaper than a set of spokes from Buchanans.
I had a literally unused black co-star front, took a long long time to get 60 bucks for it..

The standard were used on the 78 CX 500 and the GoldWings sported them as well.  The 78 CX had a black plastic cover on the rivets from the rim to spoke.  I personally like the design too.  Comstars had a couple variants the reverse most common. I have seen even a bbs type diamond grid type that were rare and expensive.  Some have referred to another brand of that style as snowflake.

The tough part is if the paint fails and the spokes rust on the interior facing spoke they are difficult to clean and repaint.  The rivets used take a very high force (10s of thousands pounds of force to rivet) to rivet and as such they are strongly discouraged from disassembly as most common bolts would not be safe. No source of the rivet is known.  There were a few that used an aluminum spoke and they can be polished to a high luster if you want to tackle the work...it is a seriously large amount of work as those were reverse Comstars if I recall correctly.

Once you strip the urethane paint on the rim they can be polished rather than painted.  Most std I have seen had a satin finish with low gloss on the aluminum rim.  They are pretty heavy.  The CX and GL500/650 Silverwings are shaft drive.  That looks like a good 650-700 bike but could have some electrical issues.  I would want the side covers included as typical on most bikes there is another $80 for both if not more.  Could be a fun bike for a female who is intimidated by shifting and would be very easy for them to learn to ride and have confidence riding. Would make a good city commuter bike on city traffic. Might be able to get it for 600.

The 78 CX500 rims were tubeless as well.

There was another Comstar variant, commonly dubbed the "Boomerang". They came in Gold and Silver. The CX500/650 Turbo had them. Also some of the early VFR models. And the Bol d'Or "F" models in Europe. They look really nice for custom projects and they come in up to 3.5" widths.
