Let's see your SOHC on camping trips!
« on: December 26, 2017, 02:06:29 PM »
Nothing gets me going like loading the 750 up with camping gear and hitting the road. I couldn't find a thread dedicated to SOHC camping, so I figured I'd start one here.

Lets see your SOHC all loaded up, I'll start!

First photo is my very first moto camping trip, about 3 weeks after I bought the bike, one week long. Oh lordy was my stuff ever poorly lashed down. I think two of those bags fell off while riding 60mph lol! Learned a lot since then...

Second photo is somewhere near Glacier National Park after going to the sun road.

go camping with the dirt bikers then you can just throw all that crap in their trucks, as their bikes don't go far on the roads anyway.  I hate riding with all that crap.

About halfway through my Coronado Byway ride last August. I only ended up camping for one night (and sleeping in a yurt 2 others) during my 13 nights on the road. The lure of a bathroom and bed was just 2 great.

Mark, that's some pretty country up in N.W. Montana, my folks retired in Plains, about 70 miles south of Glacier National Park, and the Rockies are Very Nice up through there.. I envy your trip, and want to do that someday on a bike. My wife wants to do a road trip out west next summer, we will take the northern route through N. Dakota and Montana, then the southern route through California and Yosemite. I want to encourage her to camp, but.. she's a softie, and may need an airbed. The good thing is, I got her a Can Am Spyder RSS and I can put a trailer hitch on it, and she can pull a trailer with all the crap she needs in it lol... I am formulating a plan lol. The bad thing is, that area burnt pretty bad this year, so it may not be as beautiful as you remember it anymore... most of Montana was on fire last summer and fall.

Here’s a few photos from our  5th annual Blue Ridge Parkway ride,we ride up to the beginning in Waynesboro, Va and ride the parkway the entire length to Cherokee, NC. along the way there was plenty of drinking, cussing and eating with some of the best friends a guy could know. Pandora clocked in about 1230 miles and she ran like a top, CB’s rock!

July, 1979, about 2 months after I bought my bike. A month before, I had the motor out and the cases split.

Nice pair of CBXs in that one shot. I didn't realize the stock side covers could be used with the Seeley.

Some nice photos guys and interesting trips.

All my camping photos with my CB750 are old 79-88) and put in boxes somewhere. Digital camera was not invented then ???
Old photo seen before on the road going south. Here just entered Italy from Austria (Dobbiaco, Dolomites). Beautiful roads and a good working bike.

My son and I took a trip across western Canada in August of 2014.  The bikes are loaded in the same way I traveled and camped when the 750 was new in the mid-70s.  Still works for me.

Soloed in the 70's and still do. Like the "Zen" of it!
These were a return to the bike and the camping fall of 2017 after many years away.  Good to be back.

A choice between taking the tent, or taking the cooler full of beer?.
I see you have got your priorities spot on there.
Reckon it WOULD make you get up earlier in the morning, especially if it was teeming down with rain. Or if not, then to have beer on corn flakes.

Frank, have you been camping at Lac Le Jeune over by Kamloops? We used to camp there every year when I was a boy in the mid '60's, great country through there, we would hit quite a few lakes in the region trout fishing.

Camping at rally somewhere in Holland 1980 or thereabouts.  Didnt realise that I had a puntured rear tyre.
Had to change the tube (I always carried spares as we didn't bother with road recovery in those days)
I'm not in the picture, everyone has got hangovers

Wish I'd kept it. I had x 2 CB750's whilst working at RAF Gütersloh on Harriers in the late 70's.
