Andy, Monument Valley and Devils Highway (now called the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway) were both part of my trip last year.

They were Italian made 4-4 that I had found in London, UK. Unfortunately they did not line up right at the back on one side and had to be used with a spacer on that side. I ended up selling them to a SOHC member to fund purchase of second hand 341s.

I did. I think I misread your picture though, the Devils Highway you were on was in Mexico. The Devils Highway I rode was in Arizona near the New Mexico border. It was originally Arizona Highway 666, thus The Devils Highway.

Great pictures, everyone! You all are inspiring me to do more this coming season. Moto camping is my favorite, and doing it with old bikes feels so right. It’s an immersive experience that connects you to the world in a way that car and hotel travel can’t touch.
Here’s a picture of my singular camping trip of the past season, when I spent Labor Day weekend at Owl’s Head, Maine.
This summer I plan to camp lots more, including (hopefully) a week-plus trip to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton!

My '77 550K loaded up for the ride around Lake Michigan in Relay Rally #1 in 2011. Reading about this was what prompted me to get my first SOHC4. It is possible that I slightly over packed. I used that same windshield and tank bag on last summer's trip.
Nah. Mine looks like that for just an overnighter. I don't have "compact camping gear".

November 2017. Azusa Canyon/Crystal Lake, Angeles National Forest, CA. Ex and her 1975 CB360T and my beat up 1977 CB550F. Arrived at dusk in the fog, pitched a tent and blew up an air mattress. Sleeping bags. Portable stove and made eggs on toast with coffee the following morning. Kept it real simple and had a lot of fun.
This was a shot before our trip back home.

All great photos! Nothing like waking up in the morning in the middle of nowhere and firing up a SOHC for another day of riding.

Well said, and if you can do it without paying anybody it feels like printing money. ;)

That is a nice ride up to Crystal lake. Back in the 70's that was our night run.

Have you done the Mt. Wilson ride? There is a road that goes from there across the top of the mountain and passes Crystal Lake and takes you to Wrightwood.

The Crystal Lake ride was real pleasant up until the fog rolled in and it felt like we couldn’t travel faster than 15 mph. There seemed to be some options to explore along and back down the path. I’ve not done the Mt. Wilson ride yet but will definitely consider it.

Camping via motorcycle was different in that I think there’s a greater effort to economize packing and you end up really utilizing everything that you carry with you. We really enjoyed it.
