Thanks Dave for the offer. I had rather thought that in the Philippines I'd have someone who would tend my garden for a modest price set in Pesos

Seeing as I'll be retarded, I mean retired, with time on my hands, perhaps I could call around for tea ? I'll bring the biscuits. In a tin.

Ha ha, my poor old Dad had dementia for the last couple of years of his life. Before he eventually went into a nursing home he admitted to me that he'd driven up the full length of our main street on the wrong side of the road, and told me not to tell mum. I told mum right away.

The thought of a nursing home is what has my mom scared sh*tless right now. My stepfather is in his 90's and in great shape for his age but my mom's condition is putting a lot of stress on him because he literally can't let her walk out the door without him following every move she makes. This also poses a problem for my brothers and me because my mom and step father live in San Diego California while my brothers and I live in the midwest or in New York, if an emergency situation were to happen we simply can't get a plane ticket and be in California in a moments notice so we're trying to get my mom to plan ahead and move back closer to us and to seriously consider assisted living so they can still have their independence yet have professional medical help that could be there at a moments notice but that's where my mom is slamming on the brakes because she interprets assisted living as meaning nursing home and she wants nothing to do with it.

I have an old high school chum that has alzheimers  (sp) for the longest time he knew he did and always began a conversation checking to see if you still worked lived and drove the same as he remembered. H'es a great person, it's tough to see him take the big slide.
I have 3 friends suffer this and all three inhaled lots of carbon monoxide in their work. Just something to keep in mind.

Ha ha, I worked with a guy named Pat McGrath when I was posted to Brisbane back in the 80's, Pat's mum had alzheimers pretty bad, and as Pat's dad had passed, Pat felt responsible for her, even though she was in a nursing home in Orange, (New South Wales) 600 miles away, so he'd drive down to see her every couple of weeks.

Problem was, Pat's mum thought that Pat was his brother Kevin, who lived locally, but hadn't bothered to get off his arse to visit his mum in years, so after Pat had driven the 600 miles to see her, she'd greet him with a big hug and tell him what a good boy he was for taking the time to visit his old Ma, "not like that little barstard Pat!" ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

;D ;D ;D Gotta laugh at some point. Otherwise you're cryin' all the time watching the old f**kers slide away. Alz killed dear old pop. Still had a bit of fun while he was here tho. Even my dear Irish Mother had some fine stories.

How're you going Gene, you healing OK after your crash? The weather here is perfect today, so I'm trying to decide whether I work on the K2 Bitsa or just take one of the other bikes for a ride? Decisions, decisions............ ;D
