Newbie I be from Australia
« on: January 02, 2007, 08:54:55 PM »
Hi, I'm Steve from Adelaide, Australia

I saw a Honda CB350 four a while ago when i was flicking through a motorcycle magazine.
I was in awe It looked so nice, like nothing else I'd seen in all the newer bikes around.

All my friends where it's old and impossible to get parts for, apparently  they didn't bring many to Australia.
After a little research i managed to find out that the CB350four was to heavy for its power and wasn't the most powerful.

A month later i had one, that i saw in a junk yard, it was some old dude's who had gotten to old and wanted to get ride of it.
I rode it for a month and it seemed a little rough so i planned to rebuild it better faster and somewhat properly.
(oh and as i took the old girl apart the old dude had fat cracked the engine block by overtiring on of the rods that secure the top end to the bottom. crazy old man.

I call her project ZERO
I'll post pics soon

They do actually Heffey ...cept its all from china  ;D ::)

Welcome to the boards. I have a 350F and I don't think its underpowered at all comparatively speaking. Its contemporaries of 350cc aint that much more sprightly.

Try buying a 350 today that will do what that 4 cylinder jewel will.

Welcome, Steve from Adelaide, post a few pics mate, then you can truly be baptized into the dark world of SOHCism......
I hope you can find parts you need for your project - if you need parts that is - not sure of how many are still floating about in OZ...I think there is a 350F motor nearby - not sure though....let me know and will checlk it out if I can help - Penrith, Sydney..

ouch... that crack musta put a damper on the day!

i've got an extra motor... but, something makes em think the shipping might make it not worth your while  :D

sorry about your motor... the bike looks to be in very decent and restorable shape aside from that.

Hi Steve
I am also restoring a 350F in Australia. The project is stalled until we can pay for chrome plating. I live in Brisbane and know of a few 350Fs up this way.
In the meantime we are riding 1980 CXs.
Good luck with the project.

Steve,

Wrecker is investigating - he thinks he has two motors - is going to check if they are seized - and will get back to me - he is unsure if they are complete motors or just bitzers... looking promising though...

will keep you informed....with pictures when available

This is your lucky day - wrecker has one motor - complete and in frame - tried to kick it over but would not move.

I will attach a few photos from my phone camera later on tonight..could not get a real good look at it because it was buried under a bit of rubbish - let me know if you are interested in it

wrecker would like to move the whole bike and not separate the block etc.. - you arrange shipping at your cost...
he wants to sell for around $350.00 (negotiable a bit on that figure)

get both motors man! you can always rebuild both and use either.  Them 350s are pretty rare though.

I agree - not a lot of them around in OZ - getting parts must be reasonably difficult - although every so often ebay shows up one that is being sold for big money or being stripped to the bones. I might buy it as an investment piece
