CB500 K0 Swing Arm Installation
« on: January 05, 2018, 10:56:03 AM »
I realize that the swing arm is supposed to reattach with difficulty, but the best I can do is about 1/8 inch too narrow to squeeze in the right side felt, rubber washer, and cupped washer.  I have tried a long pry bar.  I even read in another post the suggestion to use an automotive scissor jack to attain a wider gap (IMO a bad idea).

Please accept my apology if this post appears twice, it's my fault.

That sounds like a good strategy, but the engine is already out.  I am doing a rebuild from the frame up.

These are really great suggestions, thank you for sticking with me on this.

I thought that I had the assembly order correct according to the diagram, but looking at it again, it now looks like the cup washers go on the outside, while the felt and rubber washers go on the inside without the cup washers; but that doesn't seem right.

I have tried putting one side's washers in first, but that leaves me 1/8 inch short on the second side (unless the cup washers go on the outside).

Wow; that should be it then.  I'll give it a try tomorrow.  Thank you very much.
