Hello from Northeast PA
« on: January 08, 2018, 10:17:49 AM »
Recently picked up a 1973 CB500, engine seized, of course. It had been sitting in a storage locker for many years. I had heard about it a couple of years ago, and finally got around to going to get it. Glad I did, seems like a pretty neat project. Thanks and Happy New Year :)

Welcome from Texas.

Let's get technical, the motor is most likely not "seized", that would be a mechanical failure.

It is prolly "stuck" from sitting, the rings tend to rust to the cylinder walls.

There is a good chance you can "unstuck" it.  Pour a cocktail of 50/50 ATF/Acetone and pour a few oz into each cylinder and let it sit a few days.
Then put it in third gear and rock it free. Good luck.

Welcome from NE MN,

The Carolina's and West Virginia get the press for some twisty roads but I remember going through the passes in PA on 2 lane roads that were anything but straight.
