76 CB 750 F Opinions

I have a European 76 CB750F1.
As you can see in the photos the turn signals are original for the European model but the positioning and mounts are not.

I have purchased the proper American turn signals and brackets as I the European ones are almost impossible to find.

What are your general thoughts on this? Keep it as it is? Go American? Or get it to the original  as it was when it was new since it seems to be rare compared to what's on the market.
I'm not too impressed with the way Honda did the turn signals and am on the fence on whether I prefer the way the previous owner has done it.

Nice looking F bike. I like the yellow,got one to fix up someday. Looks like the original headlight/turn signal mount bracket is missing unless Euro bikes were different.
Thanks!  Yes, the original haedlight/turn signal bracket is missing. I have gotten ahold of one for a US bike but the diameter for the turn signals are larger. So if I use it I'll have to use the US turn signals.

looks to me like someone just wanted to mount the earlier small turn signals.  How have you determined that your bike was euro market and what signals are correct for the euro market?   

Beautiful bike though, and I think you are right on restoring it to original parts.

If you want to use throw over saddle bags, you'll appreciate the signal movement to the back.

Looks like you've found a nice low mileage/kilometerage (?) F  :)

And those are the correct Euro signals SeanB. However that rear end needs a little work to bring it back to specs.

Let us know what info you need as you go. Just too bad you as so far away  :'(
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I suspect that the bike may have once had both a windshield and bags on it and the PO moved the signals to make room. The rear ones are definitely well positioned to allow room for throw over bags.

I'm in Norway  and I håve determined it's the European direct sales bike from the history of it. It had to be either the German or European. By going through all the schematics on CMSNL.com to compare parts etc. Frame# is CB750F1035468 Engine## CB750E2557914

ok?...What about that tail light?
The tail light seems to be correct for the European. German was just a round lens... the seat isn't down all the way so it looks crooked. It's all chrome though. The places where the rear turn sifnals go were cut off. I have made new ones and just finished welding on. I also bought a new bar from the US but then I need a US taillight and ditch the fender.
Sure wish I was back in the US. Way too far away

That's a really nice F bike. If I owned it, I would try to keep it as original as possible.

Yes, it's a re-paint. I contacted the first owner and he had it painted red and had a white seat cover put on 🤢when he purchased it in 1978.

Kinda hard to answer your question as it has been repainted wrong, so it is not original.....you’d have to redo the tank and side covers , and tailpiece, get original blinkers that came with the bike and then you could call it original/ restored....
     I prefer original and if it’s as rare as you say, I’d probably go for original restored..

Yeah, the paint isn't really my first priority. I'll re-paint the side cover and kind of like the yellow it has now. Just want to make it as close as possible. Not making her a show bike.
 And as I'm not sure that it being a Eurobike makes it rarer or worth more and is why I made the post. The parts that are different are like the signals and cosmetics.

 Grabcon, I do not have a picture loaded right now of the tach but can 'grab' one next time down at the shop. I think these yellow ones are 1976 but would need to check the title for sure. The story I heard was Honda was doing some yellow but then Yamaha came out with a yellow scheme on all their moto bikes and Honda dropped the color from production so as not to be identified with the other company. May be an urban legend.
 Is the color of the faces something your curious about ? Here are two pictures of a couple other 750F's I have. The first is an original owner orange 75 and the second picture is of an original owner low miles Antares Red 76. Look to be different colors.

The 76 models of both the CB550 and the 750 had light color green faces.

This was pointed out to me by a long time Honda dealership salesman years ago when he spotted 76 Cb750 gauges on my 74 Cb550.  Further, the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide notes the bright green gauge faces on page 193.

From what I have witnessed 1976 was the only year Honda used light green faces in the instruments.

FYI : The HMIG also says the 76 750F was offered in Sulfur Yellow and Candy Antares Red.  The 75 model was offered in Sunrise flake Orange, and Candy Sapphire Blue.

Yep, and the original 75 picture shows blue gauges which were released in 77... at least for the 550f, U.S. import.

The second or bottom picture I posted Lloyd with 4848 miles is a 1976 cb750f with the lighter green which I think correlates to what your saying ?? The top picture is a 1975 cb750f with darker gauge faces.
 The yellow 750F I posted way up the page also has the lighter green faces.
