1975 CB550F Levers and Brake Light Switches
« on: January 09, 2018, 06:14:18 PM »
Hey guys, quick question on brake light switches from the lever.

For some reason, and I guess it must be by design, there are two ways my bike does it. I have a hardware switch on the lever itself, AS WELL AS a pressure switch from on the banjo. Both work fine independently of each other.

Is this commonplace and necessary? From what I can tell in other threads, it is either one or the other, not both. Perhaps it's a redundancy thing!? Because to clean up the front end and perhaps swap out the levers I am thinking of just letting the pressure switch do its job and be done with it.

Thanks all!
CB

Thanks for the replies guys.

MC may well be aftermarket although it looks about right for the age and others I have seen. In any case, confirms suspicions so may leave out the wires for the hardware switch in future.

Cheers!
