- Ported head and bigger inlet valves too?
- ”Only” 836 bore, stock head?
Long duration cams for higher rpms and higher CR.

- Race valve springs?
If not, use a cam that is specified for stock springs.

I have a Wiseco 836cc engine. I ride it almost daily. I had the head ported and use a Webcam 41a (similar to the CX-2 in the links posted) stock valve train. I personally think this combination is a great mix of added power, useable power band for street riding, and reliability. If you are doing the pistons and cam, I highly recommend head porting as well.

I have a Wiseco 836 engine as well, had them installed when I blew the "Big Bang" bike.  I have a vintage Kenny Harmon d grind from Action Four  in it, however, not a lot of those around.

D or SS-1?
I used SS-1 with 836 and ported head in most of the 80’s. Really good cam.

Actually it's from Action Four but is a Kenny Harmon d grind.
