I was at Pat's shop, and this was hanging on his wall, been there about 15 years or more. 1969 CB750K0 Instruments, and Unicorn... and some 1977 CB750F stuff too!

It's possible, there was a lot of that going on 20 years ago lol. I have found a few things mislabeled, but they are CB750 gauges, perhaps not 1977 though... but I'm not the expert, just an enthusiast who knows these parts need a good home. Looking at them again, they have a temp gauge on them which would lead me to believe they came off of a water cooled bike.. anyone have a clue what they really are?? Gold Wing maybe?

Unicorn with gauges are not 69. They are 72 - no lights in them.

CX500 might be the gauges on 2nd pic, and yes the 69 gauges don't have the indicator lights on them... Could be a 71 or 72, did the 72 have a unicorn bridge?

2nd pic gauges are Cx500. The mount plate isn't, though.

I wonder if that CX tach has the correct drive ratio for the sohc 750...it would be trick to hook that temp gauge to an oil temperature sensor

Not sure, but if you would like to contact him, his number at the shop is 419-244-2525, name is Pat. He is only open thursday through saturday, 1pm to 5pm. I am amazed every time i go in there, as I see stuff that I didn't notice before. He has a 1965 BSA Lightning in the front window... surrounded by parts. There is a 16" rear wheel with drum brake, brand new hanging right above it. Also, an MB5 rim next to it lol...

Now that's an interesting Idea, Sean! If you could get a temp sensor to read oil temp, it may work...

I had to repair that temp gauge function when I got my CX-500. The gauge and sensor operate with a 7V regulator, which was bad on mine. It works now.

Likely possible to convert to oil temp sensor. Anything is possible. Calibration is another matter/project.

I don't recall the tach drive ratio, though.

where is the cable driven from on a cx?...it being a v-twin, I was thinking maybe the tach drive is off the crank? That would make for a wayy different ratio

Tach drive is off the camshaft, similar to SOHC4. I did learn that the temp gauge normal indicating range is 176F to a peak of 257 degrees F. Cold low limit is 122F. No idea regarding the accuracy tolerance.

I can go look at the tach on my CX. The ratio is often stamped on the back of the instrument. I just have to get 711 miles closer to it. Not sure when that will be.

I can look later today, am going over there to look at more stuff in the basement, he has lots of gauges there. He gave me a set of 1973 gauges that I installed on my bike, and opened up the speedometer and reset the mileage to what mine actually read when I purchased the bike lol. They bolted right up to the 1978 CB750A bracket. If there is a ratio, I will let you know on the CX500 gauges.

Don't knock yourself out guys. I just kinda had one of those "Hey! what if?..." moments. Doubt I would ever be concerned enough with the exact oil temperature of my bike to exert much effort towards setting up a gauge....would be kinda neat though if appropriate parts just fell into my hands.
