edw from Paris
« on: January 18, 2018, 12:24:39 AM »
Hello guys,

I'm Edward (wrote it Edouard in french) from Paris, France. I'm 34 and I work as a photographer and photo director.
I begin my 2 wheels life with a plastics scooters. Later i bought a 1969 Vespa 50r after that with some friends we got into mopped stuff and i build a mbk 51, that was fun but 50cc 2 strokes... Finally i build a Honda C50 with a 125cc motor, and i feel bad about insurance and risks. Finally I had my motorcycle licence ~2years ago and bought a KZ650 F2 who's my daily.

Last week i got my first ***drumroll*** CB550 F1. with some missing parts and not running, i'm sure will need help from you guys to help me with it !

I'm super happy the forum exist, cheers.
(i'm sorry if my english looks not, i tried to do my best)

Welcome...nice KZ.  If your KZ is right, your gonna be disappointed by the cb550 engine.  CB550 handling?...you will like that!
If it works good, it looks good...

Welcome from Texas.   Your English is fine, better than our French!

I also have a CB550F, fine bike and a couple Kawasakis too.

Thanks !!

Actually in France, new riders can only use motorcycle <47.5hp motorcycle for 2 years (maybe 3, i don't remeber) and my girlfriend want pass her licence. Paris is a messy traffic place so a smaller / lighter motorcycle can be usefull..

It's time to build my own motorcycle, and open a 4cylinders motor for the first time ! (i hope it will be easy..)

The kz perform well.. is the cb550 that slow ? I was asking myself about a 590cc big bore kit & smaller gear ratio, i don't really need to ride over 150km/h (~90mph)

The thing is i want a four since really long time, this one was cheap so i bought it. Most use will be in town or suburb, i hope it will be enough !

Welcome, I don't see any reason to bore the 550 when you have a 650.  Unless it needs to be bored of course.  Looks as though it is in very good condition. Is it a runner?  >>Larry

No, the 550 is not a dog!  [Pas un chien!]   Obviously, it wont be as fast as your KZ, but it has a nice power to weight ratio and is fun to ride.  Many of my bikes have larger motors but I still like my 550F...

MoMo : it’s not a runner, I just find out it’s an f2 motor on an f1 frame.. the motor isn’t blocked, but all the screw looks used.. so maybe bigbored it damaged, maybe not.

BobbyR : my gf father and brother live in nyc, I travel 2/3 times per year to your place, and I love it! I definitely need to ride it !

Yes you must ride the area. We have mountains and lakes and the Hudson River. You will fill up your memory card with images.

Bear Mountain is 30 minutes from my home. There are many beautiful roads in the area.

Beau projet la restauration de la CB400F1.
Tu trouveras pas mal d'infos sur "CB et Four Index du Forum" et sur "Motos HONDA 70' CB et Four".
