Any CL350 gurus out there?
« on: February 27, 2018, 09:40:43 AM »
After a long slumber, I got the CL350 fired up after some routine maintenance.   Ran like a top and then suddenly left most of the fresh oil on the driveway.
Turns out the clutch rod seal (part 23) had somehow unseated itself.  Not sure how.  Maybe there's a clog in the vent tube ?   I found many dirt dauber nests in the bike.  It had set quite a while.  Not sure if that would create enough pressure to blow it out of whack.  Perhaps it shrank over the years?    The clutch rod is true and everything else looks great.  It only has 8k miles on it.    Does anyone know if the aluminum holder (part 14) for the needle bearing can be removed without splitting the cases?  Or if I even need to think about it? I just happen to have a new needle bearing sitting here that I could put in there if it came out easily.  It looks like there is a pin ( part 15) that looks like it keeps the part located and keep it from spinning.   Any ideas?   I'll probably just order a new seal and call it done.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

The bearing won't come out without splitting the cases.
You should be able to tap a new seal into place easily - use some silicon on it.
Then replace the push rod, you're done.

As usual, I overthink and complicate things.

Tapped in a new seal with a thin smear of Yamabond  on my CL350. Fixed it right up.
