Still got a Ducati ST3, and owned a 98 900ss for a couple of years from new. Lovely bike and never let me down. Bear in mind with the belts it isn't just mileage, it's time that decays them, so 500 miles wear is fine, but recommended change interval is 2 years. Clutch will probably rattle at idle because it is dry, pulling the clutch lever in should silence it, as will riding it away which is always a good idea.

The bike was delivered today. I took it for a short ride. It was 14 degrees out, so I had to keep it short. I liked it, though.  It's much faster than my old hondas. The song it makes is really something too. Over the next couple months, I'll be getting the wheels powder coated to match the frame and I'll check the valves and probably replace the belts. The carbon bits look like they could use some sanding and a fresh coat of clear as well. I don't have plans of doing much else with it. Just enjoy it when the weather warms up

My advice is to keep it stock. Value. Less and less around and in some circles a very sought after motorcycle. I don’t know what year or if Ducati ever put red wheels one them to be honest.

Belts are easy. There are a couple of places that sell aftermarket belts. Remember, it’s time and mileage. Watch some vids and find TDC. Getting the belt covers off is another ballgame.  ;D

Dry clutch equals coolness.

From what I've seen, it looks like the wheels and frames always matched whether it was silver, white, or champagne colored. So I think the wheels were painted red by a PO. The other modifications done to the bike already are Keihin flatside carbs and the rear mud guard is cut shorter. The exhaust may have been changed as well, but I don't really know. I do want to swap out the cut mud guard for a new carbon fiber version, but I would need to probably get a new rear hugger, front fender, and clutch cover, as well, so all the carbon fiber will match. All the original carbon parts are looking pretty rough. But yeah, I'm with you on stock.

Here's some close ups of the carbon. Idk what can be done, if anything to freshen it up. Maybe all new is the only option, but that would be a bit costly.

You can scuff and clear them and they will look alot better.  I had this on my 2000.5 rsv carbon and scuffed them and clear them.  I then blocked the clear and cleared them one more time.

First try a light wetsanding of the parts. Start with 1500 grit, then up to 2500. Follow with a buffer and a foam pad.

I got the wheels stripped down to bare metal today. Stripping off powder coat is not a fun job. I'm going to get some paint on them tomorrow. I didn't see a color I thought was a close match to the frame so I went with a darker gray color "graphite". I think it will look pretty good.

Because I have to remove and replace the rubber cushions from the rear wheel to do powder and that's a massive pita.

Got the wheels painted up today. I'm going to let them dry overnight and throw them in the oven to cure tomorrow. I should then be able to get the tires mounted on Tuesday. We're going to have some warm weather this week, so I'm anxious to get this thing ready. It's amazing that it's 30 degrees out and snowing right now and it's supposed to be 70 on tuesday

I'm assuming you meant rotors and I didn't really install them, they're  just sitting on there. They're also not touching a surface that was painted and the paint was dry enough to be handled. It's fine
