Not me - I'm good, thanks for asking .  Saw a guy pushing his bike up a hill yesterday - pulled over and asked him if he needed some help.

Turns out he ran out of gas.  Thing is - frankly I don't know how I could have given him some of mine.  I don't carry a hose and I've never had to steal gas before so I am not practiced in the art of siphoning gas without poisoning myself.

Any of you guys carry siphon kits so that if someone does run out you can give them some of yours?
I see they have kits, just never thought of carrying one.

On our sohc it's easy if you carry 6 to 12 inch piece of hose .
First open a beverage.. if you have one.. if not look for one in the ditch.
The pull one hose of the petcock. Put the short hose on  open petcock fill can..
 I think 2 would get you 5 to 10 miles down the road.

I've used the beer, er, beverage can trick several times in the past, without an extra length of tubing; just holding the can under the stream from the spigot. Tip: rinse the can out with a few ounces of gas first.

You can also, if you have a K0-K6 750, pop off the float bowl(s) and transfer it that way, if nothing else! It got a CB500 3 miles to the gas station in South Dakota, in 1972.

I wasn't on the SOHC, but if I were - all else fails I can just remove the tank, hold it over his tank and let it drain into his filler.

That would work too I suppose.

I was on my commuter - the 1200GS, so a siphon hose would be mandatory there.  But I suppose I can coil up a 5' poly hose and keep in the tail pack.

You don't have to suck on the hose to start a siphon. Dip as much hose as you can into the gas, then put your thumb over the end. Pull out enough hose to have the end (with fuel showing) below the source  and then take your thumb away and let gravity do it's job. Piece of cake, no PISON either.

Transferring gas reminds me of the scene in the old movie "On any Sunday" where the guy tries to light a signal fire because he broke down. He ends up torching his bike, it was staged but still funny. I loved that movie.

Scotty if you just drained the can by drinking it, shake it out, be fine..
its the ditch ones that get the spiders nests and bugs  with big happygrins on their faces from drinking the leftover beer.

Remember in Cheech and Chong, Where they borrow the Tbird convert  and the gas Jerry can or thewheelbarrow had bunches of leaves in it with tye gas, but they poured it into the pristine Tbird anyway...lol.. it was a barrel they siphoned gas out of a tow truck then poured what was In the pic into the Tbird with no funnel..

i've run out of fuel on the honda before, couldn't be bothered pushing the bike so i just took the tank off and carried that to the petrol station, put a couple of litres in and carried it back

Don't try using a Styrofoam coffee cup; the bottom will melt out and dump the gas all over.

That's only if you're lucky enough to run out of gas next to a Motel with a gas station close by!

yeah ive done the find a coke bottle road side,pull a fuel tap hose and fill it coupla times enough to get to gas station,always rinse it a little first ya don't want germs from someones mouth!

Most of the SOHC4s have tanks resembling saddle bags in construction.  And, the far bag from the fuel tap doesn't feed out the bottom.
So, if you run out of gas on the fuel tap side there is still some gas in the other side.

Two ways to get at that fuel.  Tip the tank so it spills over the center hump.  Or, if you have forward motion, tap the brakes aggressively so that inertia forces the fuel forward and it sloshes over the hump toward the dry side and feeds the fuel tap.

I used this latter when I misjudged how far the next gas station was.   I did make it to the gas station under power. And then put 4.1 gallons into a 4.2 gallon tank.

I have done this when a buddy ran out of gas a couple miles from the nearest gas station. 
We were on a long ride in the Hill Country, I was on my Z1 which has a large tank, he on a CB550.   Only took about 10 min and we were on our way...

 I've done the scary bike lean to get the far side gas to spill over to the petcock side.
