okay okay okay... everyone keeps pm-ing me and making suggestions so i'll tell you what i've got in the works as far as the BOTM calendar.  for most of us (terrys excluded) the calendar will be produced during the northern hemisphere's summer.  i figure it will give us something to add to our collection during the riding season (and that's when we'll have a year's worth of winners  ;) )

besides, i don't want to compete with sparty's calendar  :)  and besides, besides, calendars don't have to start in january do they?

I'd love to see mine in there, but I don't think it's worthy.  There are at least 24 better looking bikes in this gang!

i will submit a pic but in the likely event you get better examples of a 1975 CB550K1, i just want to know how much the losers need to pay to get one of these calendars.  it will be a collectors item for sure judging by the willingness of people to submit.  somebody should tell heffay to get a BOTM calendar up, it would be a good fundraiser for the site, and he must be done with finals by now.  way to ring in the new year with a classy idea sparty.

let me know if you want a more recent pic with (non stock) rear winkers.  but really, let me know where to to paypal  :)

KK,

I like both photos, but the bottom photo will work best for the calendar with that cool background.  Love the 550.

yer too kind sparty
if you dont find another 550K1, that building is still around the corner from my house and i think it still looks all shyty like that.  my bike looks mostly the same with some low prfie rear winkers.  i can retake the photo or send you a high res version of the one i posted, but its raining today and i am leaving to go to california at 2pm, for the next 6 days.  so if you want high res let me know before 2, if you want a better pic you wil have to wait until the 14th,  good luck

thanks for the boost Sparty, I said i wanted one "ESPECIALLY if mine ISN'T IN IT"

I hope to be done (running condition) in a month or 2, the cosmetics may take a little longer since the tank got scratched to bare metal...(wives, what are you gonna do? accidents happen)

think i should bead blast the wheels and have them powdercoated or what?

If you get them powder coated they will have to be taken apart. You might have to get new spokes if they are rusted up real bad or they may clean up with some steel wool. You will have to relace the wheel and true the spokes after it is painted.
The thing about common sense is that, it's not that common.

Just a thought but maybe someone could create calenders and use the profits to help out DustHawk.  I don't want to take away someone elses idea so maybe if someone else wants to create a calender and use it for that purpose.  There seems to be plenty of bikes to go around.  I know I would buy one.

There was a wheel with black hub and rim on ebay a while back with ss spokes. I thought it looked bad a$$. Do you have someone that can true the spokes for you? Have you laced a wheel before? Take some good pics before you take it apart. Count how many holes the spokes cross over to get your pattern. Or if you have another bike to look at it will be easier. Also there is an inside and outside spoke they are bent different at the hub. Do the wheels first so we don't have to look at them anymore in your pics :D ;D ;) Good luck!! Get a good shop manual and most of you questions will be answered.

I did see that.  Although I have never been down and out with that level of problems but for the grace of God.....   Not to mention the feeling that one gets by helping someone that needs it, especially someone that you don't even know.  I think it is a bargain to get that feeling for just a small donation.  That's what I call a win win :-)
