OK first newbie question 750F or F1

While I was browsing through the forums parts schematics I noticed that some parts  listed for the CB750F are not listed as needed on the CB750F1.  Are they different machines or just optioned differently?

750F and 750 F1 are similar or even same but various changes which can be 'Market Dependant'
 Pretty sure the side panel badge was just 'F' but bike was still F1 (as opposed to F2 wit bigger valves, smaller dual disc, extra flexy forks, etc)
You probably need specific engine/frame number plus original country of sale. The US had at least 2 variants (California and 'everywhere else') Canadian market will have different jetting and possibly suspension, gearing, etc. German market could have 3 different models for same year (mainly emission related)
Pretty sure someone with exact knowledge will be along soon, I just can't remember details from 40+ yrs ago

Pj is spot on. In US the f0 and f1 were virtually identical as we're the f2 and f3. The later f bike did have the best forks of the single cam bike though and we're actually far LESS flexy than earlier ones.

In my experience the F2 had brakes too good for the forks. The slider design was made stiffer but the fork tubes were too thin which led to 'dented' front mudguards where they could touch exhaust pipes. (even with stock tyres in 1978~79)
I once returned from a test ride and the seal wipers had wiped rear of fork tube about 2" further at back of fork leg than at front (it took me a little while to figure out what had happened but the evidence was there)

IN THE US - same bikes, different colors. Couple changes like the rear master cylinder mid- model year 75.

What do you see that's not needed? I have the parts book.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

 I was just surfing around through the pages here on the web to find out parts I thought were missing. Turns out that I need the rear fender b ( the one with the little box.  Also on the same schematic it showed a rear fender c and it was listed as needed for the F1. But not the F.

Hmmnn, that's interesting. I'm pretty sure I used K3-6 tubes in my F2 forks which had been bent in a crash when I restored it, so maybe I came up with the "fix" without even knowing that there was a problem? I've got a set of minty F2 forks here with no obvious rubbing of the tubes, but I'll double check. I have an urge to build another CB750 "Bitsa" this winter like I did last year, and I've thought about using those forks on a K frame along with some twin piston Brembo calipers, if they'll clear the spokes on my Henry Abe wheel. No rear fender C on the US F0/F1 model. Nothing that fits under/below/behind the license plate mount/fender A stash box. The European F1 model had another rear fender the same as/similar to the US F2/F3. Keep in mind there was no European F0 or F3. Be specific which country schematic you use. You can also use the serial number in some of the parts lists/schematics to help out.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

OK folks I figured it out, I think.  Reading truly is fundamental!  I sat down and actually read the parts book and there, in black and white, was the area code!  Learning more every day.
