eBay minus fits
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:41:38 AM »
This may have already come up , but I learned a trick on eBay searches,  add -fits to the end of the search. It gets ride of a ton of junk items sellers add to the search. But it may drop something you are looking for, just helps to narrow down the field.

example, a search for Honda CB500 seat, 2,742 results for Honda cb500 seat

Here is the same search with -fits added to the search line, 625 results for Honda cb500 seat -fits

I have been doing "-fits" for quite some time now. I got totally annoyed by ebay allowing this to virtually litter any auction.
When I look for CBX stuff, I do -fits CBX750 CBX650 CBX550 CBX400 CBX250 CBX125 750 650
If you don't do it, you end up looking at crap from China that is not even remotely related to what you are searching for.
1973 CB350F -sold
1974 CB350F -218 orig miles, sold
1976 CB750K - in restoration

GB500
Plus Kawasakis, BMws & Ducatis

I hate "fits"! Thanks, had not heard of this.

To eliminate the China crap, I typically select "U.S only" for the location.

I've found some good stuff searching odd terms. Like- Honda 750,  instead of cb750, or 750K, A friend searches misspelled words like gaser instead of gasser. Ford coop instead of coupe.

I was looking for a gs1100E swingarm to put on my KZ1000 and found one for $200 with no pivot bolt, spacers or rear axle. When I searched for gs1100 rear axle I found the swingarm, axle, spacers, brake rod, pivot bolt and hardware for $85 and the bearings in it were recent good ones.  Also don't restrict yourself to Sandcast, K0 or K1, a lot of people don't know what year part they have.

Thanks for the new search tool.
