CB750 K7 - what color_
« on: January 26, 2018, 02:40:41 pm »
Can someone help to identify what color is mz K7?
According to honda750expert.com there were only 2 color variants - Excel Black and Candy Alpha Red
Mine looks to me as dark brown, not black, nor red..

I saw quite some pics on the neet and I found all 3 colors, black, red and also the same I have...

Or is that only issue with color settings of cameras?

Or my bike has non-original paint? (I purchased it as 100% original and it really looks like original...)
Current Honda bike has color code label under seat, but I did not have found any... I suspect that time no labels have been used?

In general, that's typical for candy! Candy colors are like several clear color ink layers over a base color. (The more candy layers, the darker the color turns out.) This creates deep reflection...and is the reason why candy colors are hard to capture on screen.   I can't judge if your color is original, but any difference you notice might just be natural as well.

An easy way to determine the original color on a 750k7 is the stripes on the tank. Candy Alpha Red has a wider center stripe that is Gold with a White stripe on the outside and a Red stripe on the inside. Mine is all original and is pictured in my avatar. I have owned it for many years. The Excell Black has different color stripes.

Just approx 2km, before I bought it. It was only nice, dry and sunny day. SInce then just fog, wet, snow or salted water on the road...

Waiting for some spares, now tires then full maintenance and then I go. Cannot wait!!!  ;)

I would say it is candy alpha red. Mine looks very much the same comparing your good pictures to my k7 appearance. It looks more brown than red. And shows as a dark color.... but not black.     Hope this helps

Just found another one from declared as original 1978, this seems to be black, outside stripe is gold, mine is white.

Funny thing is that to register bike here I can only do as historical vehicle but need to declare and prove many specs info, color being one of them. I smell issue.. how to prove it is red if there is actually no red???

Pity that Honda did not put any labels on frame...

Is there any other way to confirm clearly to avoid any dispute?

It is probably sci-fi to get that confirmation from Honda via Frame number (VIN), right?  :-\

I stand corrected on the stripe colors on a Candy Alpha Red 77 750k7  I looked at mine in the garage again. The stripe colors are Gold in the center, then black, then red on the inside and white on the outside ----- same as yours. The black was hard to see.                                                                                                                                                 www.cb-four.com/cgi-bin/shop/__Tank-Decor-Stripes-Honda-CB-750-K7-for-red-tanks__14-0016-06_07.09.html

That looks identical to my K7 I bought new. Here is a pic of when I got it home from the dealership. Sure looked black to me.

Well, not so sure - your stripes are different than mine - I have outside of middle gold white one, you have double gold.

As was said here previously, it looks like should be red, but in real is dark brown. Or I'm color blind :)

Correct...my OEM K7 had the white stripe like yours. The other tank in the pic is an OEM I found in the box never installed. Maybe it is from a 78? I'll check the number on the Honda box.

I no longer have the K7, but did some checking on this tank in the box and it's for a 78 with all stripes gold except for the red.
