Interesting Hailwood Project

Interesting pic just came through on my FB feed - some contention as to whether its a Belletti Chassis or a Lyster

Interesting. Funny how things have changed. In those days the bikes were "allowed" to be rough around the edges, pure racebike. MotoGP teams now carry so many spares and a crashed or dirty bike isn't that way for long.

+1 on that. And sometimes it wasn't just the bikes held together with gaffer tape - I remember during a 1970s TransAtlantic race (UK vs USA) Paul Smart couldn't grasp the throttle properly on his Triumph because he had a cast on a fractured right arm - once he'd straddled the bike on the starting grid his mechanic taped his hand to the twistgrip!

It's the same picture on Stelio Belletti wikipedia page: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stelio_Belletti (sorry it's in Italian).
And in StelBel web page: http://stelbel.it/il-telaio-belletti/

He has worked not only with Honda, but also with Paton; moving to bicycle in the 70's (what a shame).

There is some suggestion that the frame has been mis-attributed to Belletti despite the pic being on the wiki page - the bracing on the downtubes does look rather Lyster in style which is probably why there seems to be some debate.

There was a photo posted of the back part of the Lyster framed Honda 500, and it appears the be the same.  Anything on Wiki should be taken with a large dose of salt.
