I now have a set of APE Pro Street Rods and in looking for a 836 kit, I see this. Any thoughts or experience with this kit?
I love to make my bikes worthless due to high mileage!
2004 ST1300A .... the fast one. And dragging pegs on a CT.
1972…parts bike
1974…. Rusty frame but runs
1974 CB750..... Powder coated frame and parts, waiting for $$ hot rod motor.
1972 with 1975 old school drag motor

You throw a Mike Rieck head on that kit and you would have a perfect set-up!!

Seems like for the price, it would take me a good bit of scrounging to do better.

I will have to call because there is another kit listed for $200 more but has the exact same description. Not sure of the difference

No ported head, why use a good kit like the APE kit or any other with similar components? Smaller chamber job and port clean-up as Hondaman recommends is much better than nothing.
Check options with MRieck.

Ported head is a mandatory part for me when upgrading the CB750 with higher CR pistons and cam. Most old heads out there need most likely a valve job recut seats and lap valves, maybe a few new guides too.

Lighten the alternator is another low cost upgrade.
Look for a used ported head.

My last K2 build got new stock size pistons and head with refurbished seats.

I do plan on some head work and bronze guides. Also plan on lightening the alternator and maybe the crank.
Not all going to come together this year, but maybe next.

My K head guides worked really fine with Honda steel guides. I think they last longer. A few replaced due to severe overheating with 2 pistons melting.
The head got bronze guides with kibblewhite 5mm valve stem kit. I should otherwise continue with stock steel guides.

 You can also get  the kit direct from APE. Looks the same to me and if you have questions they know the answers.
