better swingarm: dimension drawings?
« on: February 06, 2018, 01:48:56 PM »
I'm new to stronger swingarms, like aftermarket available or made in the sohc era.
But I would be able to fabricate one. So does anyone have or know drawings of one?
Or is there an alternative from a younger bike, while retaining good geometry?

I don’t want to discourage you from swapping your factory arm for a new one, but are you concerned that the factory swingarm is too weak?  Granted, opinions on the subject have varied somewhat, but keep in mind that MANY competitive cb750 road racers run unmodified factory swingarms.

That being said, I currently own 3 rectangular section custom cb750 specific steel swingarms.  2 are modern, one is vintage 1974/75.  All 3, FWIW, are heavier than the factory arm, though not by much.

Some I believe have used the alloy cb400 ss that was sold in Japan.   Im running a alloy one made for me by Framecrafters. It's not much for weight savings but it's stronger with loads of adjustability
