Topic: A local bike show in the veritable boondocks

Went to a bike and car show in a hamlet (population 616) not far from where I live in Southern Tasmania last weekend.
For a tiny town this place was punching way above its weight for the show.
Took lots of pictures however they get a bit boring if you weren't there.
There were a few absolute standouts though in the bike section and here they are.
This one is a WW2 Zundap that Mr Hitlers soldiers used. A v twin 750cc 2 wheel drive designed to carry 3 if need be. Normally it would have had a machine gun mounted on the sidecar but seeing this was a family day there were no guns mounted.
Next one is a 1910 F&N 500cc inline four that the owner had ridden round the world recently.

that zundap..kosted far more then a vw kybelvagen to produse..it have 2 hveel drive,, hydralik brakes..all kinds of fanzy stuff..typic germann over engenering..they make 10 BMW or DKW for one zundapp

Zündapp had a military contract to build these rigs. They could not keep up with the demand during the war and so BMW was brought in to build a similar model. R75 with sidecar - sidecar cannot be detached as it has a driven wheel. Strange thing is, there are more BMWs still around than the Zündapp KS601. Probably because the Zs were all blown up in combat
Zündapp also made a civilian version of an 800cc.

yes i have seen those photoes of a civilian zundapp vith a snow plough in front..no joking..just as cool as the ketten rad opel build

Moe, There are limits to the total size of attachments. I have found you can get around this by posting with only 1 or 2 photos and then using the "modify" button to add more.

You can also use the photo hosting sites, but I don't do that because then the photos aren't always visible to everyone.

Not sure whether we talk about the same unit. The KS800 was a regular bike before WWII. Albeit it had a flat four motor and it is being said the design provided the base for the original Volkwagen motor, as Dr Porsche and Zündapp collaborated in the VW development

At the same show there was a bunch of 9 Brittish bikes sitting a bit away from all the other bikes.
What was remarkable about this bunch was that they were all owned by the same bloke.
FIVE Vincents, TWO Brough Superiors, a Hesketh and a common old Triumph Hurricane. The owner had just paid a hefty sum for a Vincent Black lightning, hopefully that'll be there next year.
This one is a Vincent Black Knight, If an uglier bike has ever been made then I have not seen it.

Too true Mike, Lots of the old Zundapps were riddled with bullet holes or worse.
