1978 CB750 K8 Piston Case
« on: February 07, 2018, 06:16:42 PM »
Hi, all.  I am brand spanking new to SOHC 4s and looking at a wrecked bike to begin a cafe build.  The guy is gonna send me some additional pics of the bike tomorrow, but I noticed that the fins seemed severely damaged (see attached pic).  My question is: Is it OK to buy another piston case and swap it out?

I know that the case halves need to be matched, but can the piston cases (is that even what they're called?) and heads be swapped out?  If so, what should I look for and look out for?

Thanks

Sorry, guess the pic didn't upload. It's this case with the cylinders: https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k-750-four-k-1978-usa_model7244/partslist/E++03.html#results

I am running a worse one.
It is the cylinders, that you want to replace, later if you get it.

Does that mean that I should NOT replace the case for some reason to do with fitment?  I would rather not have that huge chunk of fins missing.

Awesome. I figured that was the case, but wanted to be before I buy the donor bike.

Thanks!
