Identification of carbs
« on: February 08, 2018, 08:21:16 PM »
I see in the service manual the depending on what set of carbs I have determines  how i adjust the pilot screws.  Manual says either VB42A or VB42C carbs.  How do I tell the difference??  I looked at the bodies pretty good and dont see any inked on numbers like i have seen on some Suzuki carbs.  What markings am i to look for and where????  Thanks.

On my 550 carbs, the stamping is on the top side of the carbs on the engine side, right by the rack. I’m sure it might be different for your carbs. Carb casting numbers can also change from year to year. I found a website that might be able to help you.

See if that helps you. If anything, the casting numbers correlate to specific bike years, that may nudge you in the right direction. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with those part numbers.
