Topic: Engle cam for 750

I found this cam in a used motor. The brand is Engle. It has some marks stamped in. Can anyone supply specifications and opinions about this cam?   This motor also has Venola 836cc pistons.

Billy had one as well Ken in his cam sale the other week, I don't remember what letters were stamped on it though.

          I have an original Engle cam Flyer for the 750's I will try and post a picture of it ! Might take a bit not to good on computer lol.

       I read on hear all the time i never log on and  post for some reason Idk ? I never saw anything on Engle cams before always woundered why ? The shop my dad worked at MSI owned by his good freind (RIP) seemed to use them in everything Street and competition 750 Honda's !  Im not sure what year the flyer is from but possibly pre 77 due to the carb specs at the bottom ?

    From the cams listed on the flyer to what cam grinds Engle's actually made seem to be different they also had a H-9-DF-1 cam which has more lift and duration. It looks closer to the cycle x cx-7 cam (I think ? ) Was going to run in new 836cc motor. I'll take pics of the H-9-DF-1 cam campared to the cx-7 see if it looks like what you got ! Unfortunately don't have any riding feed back on what the Engle's cams perform like last motor had a web 41a grind cam in it with unported k cylinder head and it had broad power range ?

I have an Engle in the drag bike's engine I haven't measured it yet. Now maybe it's on the list. I'll report back.

       Took pics and measured the lobes on the H-9 Df-1 cam. To compare to yours if it helps you better ID the one you got. But the pics were to big.  In. lobe measures 1.4860 from heal to nose and the Ex. is 1.4285. If the base circles were ground the same should be smaller heal to nose I guess ? But this kinda brought me to a question The heal to nose measurements were smaller on the Br-21 cam and one labeled for a fuel bike the base circle looks like it was ground smaller to gain the added lift anybody know this to be true or am i just an idiot lol ? I dug threw some folders but couldn't find a cam card on the Df-1.

It was and still is common practice to regrind a stock cam by reducing the base circle, but due to shifting of timing, the reduction in the base circle may be more than the lift increase. My bike has a "mystery" regrind cam; it appears the base circle was reduced by about .050". One way to tell a regrind visually with the motor assembled is to look at the valve adjusters; with my cam, there are no threads visible above the lock-nuts.

  The cam in my late friend Tom's old stroker motor is the Engle J BR21 with .410" lift and 310* duration. It is still in the ported head that came on the engine with the custom springs and retainers. I've collected the Webers like were on the motor, jetted for a mild cb750. I recently found two 72mm alcoa/MTC pistons, but they turned out to be for a #1 or #3 cylinder and it needs a piston for #2 or #4.  Tom was an Action 4's dealer and seemed to use MTC parts also.
  A guy I knew as a little kid showed up at my door all grown up and gave me the original black header off that bike. He said his son got it at the estate auction and assumed that I was mad about it. He moved away and sold the bike it was going on.
 I remember RC jr. saying when he was a kid, he remembers on some Saturday mornings they would drive down to Engle cams and pick up the RC grinds for their shop.
