I found a cover for my cb750 K2 at David Silver. It is the correct pattern for the K2 one year only pattern. I installed it over the original seat pan using new foam from Z1. All fit with minimum of issues, using same hardware as original. Now must install the strap, and apply stencil to the rear of the seat. New nos front wheel, spokes, and hub assembly complete, waiting for new continental 3.25 x 19 tire. Getting ready for my next show this spring. This should get me to about 98 points of a possible 100. A good day!

Nice looking seat Keith. I recently redid a used seat I bought on ebay for my bike. The pan turned out pretty nice, I keep the original cover. It had a few tears that I butchered closed. Didn't turn out too bad. I may get a new one, once I get the bike road worthy

Meanwhile if the rest of your bike turns out like your seat has, you will have a show bike in no time.

Nice job. I've done a few and key is getting a good cover, some of the cheap eBay ones just don't fit right. Surprised yours did not come with the logo.

Do you have the original strap? The straps that came with the covers I've bought were not quite the same as original and I did not use them.

Thanks Stev-O, Funny, I posted a while back my original seat had no stencil either. It was definitely the original cover. I wonder how many were produced this way? I ordered the stencil kit, I do have the original strap.

I’ve tried to make an explanatory post about your seat. It won’t let me, so, your seat is a wrong seat for a K1 or a K2 as far as points go ( AMCA). The patterns is for a K1 and the piping is for a K2...

I will have to respectfully disagree on this. The first image you show is from the CB750 expert site. Unfortunately, he is wrong here. The K2 (especially early) had a one year only seat. My bike was judged at two AMCA national events, once by Peter McMurray, AMCA Director and Honda expert. I didn't believe it at first, but he was right. The last image you show is for a K1, not a K2. The cover I replaced was the original, as the trim piece along the lower edge was an integral part of the cover, and no replacement covers were available until now, and was the same pattern as my new cover. A moot point to most people, but I need the extra point!

Yeah, I tried to post more but I couldn’t. In no way was I emphatically stating the expert Honda was right.....your right, my last image was a K1... so doesn’t that match your pattern which you say is a K2?.....and....I know experts can be wrong, Honda literature can be wrong, and mid year changes made. Plus, I didn’t know whether you were a newbie at shows or not. Your in the AMCA, as am I, ...so you know how judging goes........I know McMurray........
....there’s nothing moot about getting that extra point...

jlh3rd, Are you from the Northeast? I'm guessing you are since you know Peter. If so, have you been to Rice-o-rama? Here is an image of a K2 with the correct seat. The K2 was an oddball year: K2 only gauges, seat, left-side switch w/ horn beeper cancel, handlebar clamp (says flash, not turn), handlebars (shorter) , tank (stripe is a decal, not painted on), chrome fork ears with only one hole. Plus a few others. Funny, all of the K2 style seat covers now available, and the NOS seat I saw from Germany ($) do not have the Honda stencil. Neither did my original seat.

Hi Keith,
I completely agree with you about the K2 seat and the other oddball parts. I have a K2 and love it for those oddities even though its in no way stock anymore. I long to get an original K2 seat (I do have one but it has a small tear so I may do as you have done and go DSS and Z1 for a repro). Its the piping on the side and the seat pattern that distinguishes a K2 seat. The comfiest seats in my opinion then the K1 seat

I’m from Pa., so not from the northeast northeast. I’ve been to rice o Rama once, amazing show....
So, what seat is this as you can tell it is not new reproduction and was on eBay as a K2.....is it not a U.S. import?.....that’s what was throwing me.....and doesn’t match your pattern.....

Well, forget it, ....it’s a 550, not a 750.... i just found it out...

The reason why many of the covers, particularly from DS is because Honda will not allow it as it is against copyright laws particularly in europe.

They’re are some being made with Honda on them......I’ve wondered about that, ...
How they’re getting away with that.....I guess Honda just doesn’t know.......
Yet, almost more than a decade ago or more, I lose track of time, before ebay, etc, ..I went to a Honda shop and ordered a seat coat for a 1975 550f. I took it and stored it away. Got it out a few years ago and saw it was not stamped yet was a verified Honda part.......go figure.....

a friend of mine years ago had an RD350 aircooled and for some reason decided he wanted it to make it look as british as possible (his words not mine ) so he started removing all the yamaha badges and logos, when he got to the stencil on the back of the seat he used tyre black to paint over it. worked fine until his wife, who was of generous proportions ( as were the next two) hopped on the back, her arse sort of squashed the back of the seat down and covered where the logo would have been had it not been covered in tyre black. she was less that amused when she got to our place and someone pointed out that she had a black stripe about 8 inches by 3 across the seat of her nice new jeans
