CB500 Pistons and Rings Opinions
« on: February 07, 2018, 07:31:05 AM »
CB500 Pistons and Rings, I need a set, first over will do it.
I see a lot available, Opinions on brand, oil ring type, etc.
Not interested in high comp, unless you think I can run with pump gas.
thanks, Mark

I would stick with what Mr Honda supplies - genuine parts are always best in the vast majority of cases.

I found a set of ART pistons, which is what Honda used.
thanks, Mark

you can use xl125 pistons but they will give pretty high compression!

Thanks Dave, I just re-started and old thread, Jetting spreadsheet project.

I saw your jetting setup, which included your pistons. Does it run ok on pump gas, Im in Calif

I think I'll stick to stock pistons, Calif gas is not the best. Highest octane near me is 91, I'd have to go the airport to get higher.
thanks though.
I found a set of ART pistons, not oem Honda.
Whats the opinion on oil ring, three or one piece.
thanks, Mark
