Carb Rack Assembly sticking
« on: August 08, 2018, 02:54:05 PM »
So Im fairly confident after rebuilding the carbs on by 76 750K project that everything is back together as is should be, but when I install all the carbs onto the Rack and install the carb slides into the lifter forks the assembly seems to bind up and not raise and lower smoothly.

Each individual carb slider seems to move up and down with very little effort. (ie. if i have the Carb standing upright and i raise the slider, it simply falls, on all except 1 and with that one a light tap and it will then fall down)

as soon as its on the rack it wants to bind up, thoughts? I even installed it onto the bike with the return spring and it still binds at about 3/4 open as it tries to return to closed.  I even put a stronger spring on and its still binds occationally in the same place and the stronger spring makes the whole throttle movement a bit too much effort i think.

any ideas?

Don't be afraid to put a drop or two of oil on those 4 rubber grommets on the top of the carb cap where the large slide rod goes through. Also one of those rubber grommets might be bad and binding or a rod got bent. I have had to replace the little grommet before.

Thanks, did that already. Actually think it might be a bad handlebar throttle assembly. Seems like it wants to bind up more when I get all the cables attached and the only friction is in a Reproduction Throttle switch assembly that i just got.

Could be a slight warp or drag spot in the carb body.
