Throttle grip question
« on: February 16, 2018, 11:07:44 PM »
The throttle grip on my 75 CB400F seems to need quite a few degrees of rotation to reach full throttle. I was at a bike shop yesterday and felt the throttle on new bikes (Ducati, Triumph, BMW, Aprilla, MV Agusta). They actually all felt the same. It seems like I have to really strain my wrist to reach full throttle on my CB. My bike is very original and I don't want to hack it up but is there a way to quicken the throttle?

you can get quick turn throttles, however if you yank these open too fast they gulp air and bog.

Have you adjusted all but a few degrees of play out of the pull cable?
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

Evinrude, I made one from black plastic PVC type stuff, heated it and formed it to the throttle tube. Worked like a charm.

A little goes a long way! Only needs to be like 3mm thick.
