APE Rods "oil squirt gap"
« on: February 18, 2018, 01:09:13 PM »
The APE rods don't have the oil squirt gap that the stock rods (or Carrillo's) have. I'm going to contact APE tomorrow but was wondering if anyone has any thoughts if the gap is necessary. I though the gap was for secondary oil spray to the bottom of the pistons.

Carrillo for comparison

Yes. The other after market and stock rods have the gap in the big end.

hei bill, really like the "short rod" design in the bottom pic, bet it allows a trillion revs red line!

Its for a street bike with Wiseco 836 pistons and a ported head. I do have a pencil grinder that i could notch the big end, just wondering if it is necessary.

Was interested in the same thing looking at the pictures on the APE website. The price is very fair but i'm not sure what to go with for my turbo engine between the Cycle X, APE, and Carrillo rods. Not to get off topic but any suggestions?
