Hey Uncle,  Oh Yeah, I've seen that one before but, only in your avatar. My eyes focus better on larger pictures. Thanks for posting that. Those fenders look pretty good there Uncle. Good to see one of those bad boys now and then. 8) ;)

Rsnip, Listen to the Uncle there or you'd better have about $15-25,000 when you go after one of those Indians. ;D

I have seen basket cases for as little as about $5,000 but that was sometime last year. The prices are steadily on the rise. :(

                                               Later on, Bill :) ;)

Funny you should ask about my age Bill.  We expect the carbon dating results any day now.
I'm rather deceptive because I'm so damn good looking.

Guess when this was taken.

Hint*- colour film was just invented.

Well, I'm pushing 60 (actually trying to push back away from it) and the time just keeps going faster and faster. I just can't seem to slow it down. My Mother told me that one day, I would want time to slow down and I reached that time several years ago. My Grandfather passed away at the age of 63 and it will be here before I know it. My Dad was concerned about the age of 63, because of my Grandfather, and he will be 82 on July 16th. I was looking forward to my 60th b'day, because of my military retirement starting up and now I'm not so sure. Ah well, Later on.   Bill :) ;)

Hey Bud, how are things going? I see Ritas safe, how about you?

Well, short term I am finally getting over the cold that kicked my backside for almost a week. Long term, We'll see what the next three to five days brings. My Public defender is breathing down my nexk, trying to get me doing more hours and I keep telling her that non-manual labor community service jobs are harder to come by, they are usually looking for landscapers or janitors, neither of which I can do hobbling on a cane. The judge, whom I have known for several years on a personal level, has left me one reminder so far that I only have two more months before sentenceing on the BIG citation, if I get my license back, it reduces it from a misdemeanor down to an infraction, which means no jail time, WOO HOO!!!!!! Other than that, I am just trying to encourage my ankle to get well enough to go back to work, and even that isn't cooperating much, lol.

Just need time, the most precious commodity there is.

What happened to that VA idea a few guys came up with last week?

The closest VA is a 1.5 hour bus ride into San Francisco and I was gently rebuffed from the idea by several of the Vets that also live here in the shelter with me. They said that me puttering around with my cane etc. would be less than warmly welcomed, not a cold shoulder by any means, but I would serve as a reminder to their own disabilities and they need support more. I wrangled with three of the guys here as we are friends and we batted around the idea but they ultimately said I would be less of a help than what is needed. When I contacted a doctor at the VA, he agreed with the guys here, so, I am looking for other opportunities to serve.

I'm here is Australia and don't really know how things work over there but what about somewhere that has disabled kids. You sound like an educated, intelligent guy so maybe you could read them stories or something. I work at a special school here and know that they wouldn't knock anyone back because they had a disability. I would have thought it was a kind of common ground.

Please dont take offense at this turtle, but kids give me the willies. Not disabled kids, kids in general. I don't know why but I just can't seem to help talking down to them and end up offending both them and the parents. Don't get me wrong, I like kids, I just can't figure out how to interact on a level with them. So much for being intelligent. To me, give 'em an ice cream and hide. Keeps me outta trouble at least.

Kids aren't everyone's cup of tea (so to speak). No offence taken.
I've been trying to come up with some ideas for you but don't know what you can do.
Are there any charity organisations that need someone to answer the phone, do their books (you seem to be computer savvy) etc.
Do libraries take on volunteers?
What about programmes for "youth at risk" (ie adolescent boys) - maybe you can relate to teens better.
Perhaps the people who run the shelter can refer you to someone.
What about the Salvos?
Just some ideas - I hope you don't think I am being pushy.

So what town are you in right now?  Maybe there are people here on these forums who have some connections in the area and can find you something where you can sit on your butt and do something useful - answering phones, data entry, etc?

       Hey Jeff,
Are you North or South of Frisco? ??? I know, at one time, you were up around where Hamilton AFB used to be and we had that place in common. Are you up around San Raphael (how ever you spell it), Ignacio  or Novato? ??? Last time I saw Ignacio, it was a small town while the other 2 were fair size (of course, it's been about 38 years ago. ::) Jeff, you hang in there, these folks are offering some good suggestions here. You'll make it. ;)
