Dust, I love ambition, but aerial photography is just about dead. Satellite has taken over and images can be bought cheap. Flying does not pay like it used to and the competition is high. Military pilots get first dibs. You are also talking about THOUSANDS of dollars before you to the first step. Since you love bikes maybe that where you future is. You can mix bikes and photography.

Here's another "fiddy" for flying lessons mate, courtesy of Heffay opening his wallet and buying an oil cooler from me! Thanks Heff! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

You know, I thought about that but the aspect that my focus group will be from is getting oblique photo's of their new house, etc. Satelite photo's are great if you want a top down look but to get the artists eye view, you need a human in control and getting the perfect angle with the sun in just the right position. A satelite 20,000 miles above the surface just can't compare with feeling the right shot. I have had some success with photography and have even sold a couple of pics, but the shots I got never could have been taken from orbit. This is just a step or two above what I have done in the past and have something of an eye for.

Besides, no one ever knows until they try, and when I try something, I don't go half way, I do the best I can to make sure I have what it takes to do it right.

Peace and Long Rides,

Jeff

Finally made my contribution. Sorry for the "pokeyness" and I wish I could give more.

Getting my pilot's license is at the top of my list of things to do in life. I've flown a few times with my boss' brother and I've dreamed of it as long as I can remember. A guy I used to work with is a commercial pilot and last I heard he was one of "Papa" John Schnatter's (Papa John's Pizza) personal pilots. Kghost seems to be doing pretty well with it too.  :D Stay focused on it and you can do it!

Now, where did my list go?  ::) ;D ;D

Just to let everyone know, I received a bunch of checks and some additional online donations over the long weekend (MLK day in the US) and am running a final tally and getting the money order out to Jeff tomorrow.  He'll have the money sometime next week.

Thanks again to everyone who made a contribution - you really are a great group of people.

Hey Jeff, I just read "the story of it all"....It's so easy in this cruel, selfish day and age for this type of thing to happen. There are no safety nets in our country anymore, and unfortunately, this is the end result.
In the past 30 years or so, we've been told by our "Leaders" to "Just go get a job", that depending upon social programs was just laziness...I'm sure that you would rather be working than healing!...do you consider yourself lazy? Probably not!
These same people have made it harder for people to recieve medical care. There are just times when people need a leg up, and the people we've elected have pulled their legs back.
We desparately need to reinstate at least some social programs so these types of things don't occur. We've gotten into a mindset where nobody wants to pay taxes to help "Lazy" people, and I think we've become a really uncaring nation. I say, "Taxes are the price of civilization", and we're becoming really uncivilized.
I think we're being taught a lesson. Be careful who you vote for.

Let us know how we did when you get the figure.

I just sent off two postal money orders to Jeff - total amount $1476.92.  I think there are one or two more contributions coming via postal mail and the donation page is still up, so Jeff will see some more help coming his way in about a week.  I should add that the 1476.92 is the exact amount contributed.  If you gave $10, Jeff got $10.  Paypal fees, money order fees, and postage and all that were on me.

We are very heavily taxed in the US. If you add up the all of the various taxes we pay, it runs close to 50% for the average Joe. Some pay more if they are in a high bracket.
The real  question is, "what do we get for all of the taxes we pay". They are certainly not getting health care, or any of the other things you are talking about. It does not seem to matter who we elect, we only get less for more.

KUDOS to Glenn for absorbing the fees and keeping the pot boiling.

Actually, we are not as bad as some.

If we (U.S.) were to attempt some of the cradle-to-grave social programs employed by other countries, that would likely change quite a bit.

HEY GLENN !   The last time I tried to find an address for this place, I couldn't find one.  My Welfare check was bigger than usual this month.  Where does one send site support checks?

Hope things turn around for you and glad your bike is in a safe place.  I sent some cash your way via donation.  Hope it can help.

I have been watching this with interest too. I wasn't able to send much but I guess every little bit helps.
Has anyone heard how Dusty/Jeff is getting on finding a volunteer position? I haven't seen him on here for quite a few days now.

Sam.

As I posted earlier, I sent $1476.92 to Jeff last Thursday which was the total amount received as of 1/18.  Jeff wrote to tell me that he received the money on Saturday.  Since then, I've received a few more contributions totalling around $100.  I will give it a week or two and then send the rest of the money to Jeff.

Bob, if you look at Income Taxes we are not at the top. But, we have all of these less visable taxes they use to pick away at us.

True enough. It was all I could find as a baseline, otherwise, not sure how you could generalize taxes here. Florida has no state income tax, but a killer sales tax. Michigan has both, sort of middle of the road at the moment, but likely to change (think raise) because the state is going broke with the down turn in the auto industry. Heck, they're even thinking of raising the tax on beer.  >:( ;D

Wow, has it been that long already? As Glenn said, I wrote him letting him know I got the money order and thanks to that, I will have my license on Monday or Tuesday. My car is Registered and Insured, and to top it all off, I found a place that can use my services for the remaining hours I owe. I received a seat from Proteal55 today and look forward to mounting it on Rita. Props to joe for the great deal and having it.

Otherwise, my medical is going fairly well in some aspects, not so well in others. I am off the Anticoagulant therapy and can eat regular food again, woohoo!!! On the down side, my ankle gave out on Sunday and I reached up to grab a bar to keep from falling and dislocated my right shoulder. I'll be going in for another MRI sometime soon. One Dr. thinks surgery is likely, the other thinks it would be a last resort, but still possible.

Anyway, my spirits are up, and Rita is happy for now, knowing things are getting better for the both of us.

To all of you out there who sent in some help, we will be eternally grateful and if you ever ned any help we can provide, let us know. I will do whatever I can to do whatever.

I'll talk to all of you soon,

Peace and Long Rides,

Jeff
