I broke my my front disc caliper adjustment bolt.  I'm ordering a new one, but can I still ride safely without the bolt in the meantime?

The the brake pads still have some drag on the disc without the bolt (I think this is because I have extra slack in my front brake line from installing lower handelbars recently).

Thanks,
Justin

It is physically safe to ride without that adjuster bolt, but you may experience abit of noise or rubbing of the pads which gives rise to heat. This heat can cause the pads to rub more until the brake binds. Just take it easy.

Justin, you can get that bolt from Honda.   I ordered mine from ServiceHonda.com   pretty cheap.  I got a new washer and nut for it too.  But yes, you can ride it.  I find that it doesn't really do much anyway.

I took a shore ride without it and it was fine, but I ordered a replacement anyway.

Chris, did you paint your bike yourself?  It looks amazing.

I had a shop in Lakewood paint it.  There are a few blemishes under the clearcoat because the painter forgot to give it a final wipe down before the cleared it.  Otherwise aside from a little clearcoat run near the bottom of the tank its pretty good.  I cost me around 400 bucks to get it done though.  I will probably have it repainted in a few years as I'm not 100% happy with the job.  The guy who did it kinda gave me the runaround for fixing the blemishes.  I guess thats what you get for going to a friend of a friend of a friend  >:(  But its a lot better than the rustoleum black that was on it before :)  I do get tons of compliments.  From 2 feet away and farther it looks great.    PPG Shiny Orange
