This is the bike that started my motorcycle obsession, in the summer of 69 I was 10 years old and my big brothers friend would come ripping up the road on one of these bikes, I could hear home coming from a long ways off and I would stop playing with my hot wheels to check out that bike and start driving my parents crazy for a mini bike which I got a year later, a c70 which I’ve still got, since then I’ve owned over 50+ bikes but never a 68 cb450 until now, this one came up on Craigslist for a reasonable price so I quickly sold a couple of bikes and went and bought this for half his asking price, with all my bikes that I plan on keeping for a long time I’m taking it down to a bare frame to find out it’s needs and work my way back to getting it on the street....

Nice find. A 450k1 is on my list of bikes I want to own one day. I have a k0 already. Its looks like youve got a solid starting point. I can't wait to see how this turns out

Several years ago I picked up a late 68 European model with the five speed. Its now a basket case in need of a rebuild. Vin information is in German. I don't have the beautiful original chrome tank like yours I wish I did. Beautiful bike congratulations!

Well I got my painted engine back into the painted frame, next is steering tapered roller bearings, and bronze swingarm bushings......

Tell me about the paint- did you have someone do it or DIY? If DIY, what type and color and what sort of prep?

Super sweet! My first moto experience was watching my dad figure out his 1974 CB450. My first hands on experience and my first bike was a 1973 CB450. Went thru the whole process of rebuilding the piece of history. Building our bikes together is something I’ll always enjoy remembering. I’ll be watching the progression of this bike for sure!

Well this project is moving along, with valves adjusted, new bronze swingarm bushing, roller bearings, fork seals, and a hondaman ignition, next is new wheel bearings....

Nice!!!!!! Always been a fan of the 450. I'll be trying to keep up with this build, myself. I have a couple of 450 "Projects myself. Bought them several years ago, to build 1 out of the 2. Just seemed like every time I turned around,
something would happen, to distract me. but now, I believe I am about to where I can actually do it. Can't wait to see your come together. Gotta appreciate your approach on this, taking it all down and going completely through it. Shouldn't be any surprises, for sure.

Well I’ve got the new wheel bearing installed and the front wheel is on for the last time, still waiting for new rear sprocket, I had to rebuild the tach and handlebar controls and still waiting for the original seat from upholstery shop but the one in photo looks pretty good.....

I'd be tempted to keep that seat- looks pretty killer. She's almost together and you still have 2 months to spare. Can't wait to hear that bike in Palisade.
